One of the many contestants on Dancing with the Stars 34 is was Hilaria Baldwin. Despite being the wife of actor Alec Baldwin, her casting still came as quite the surprise. It didn’t take long for rumors to emerge about how she made the cut.

The first theory was that she got the job thanks to her superstar husband, which she denied. Then, DWTS host Julianne Hough claimed that she campaigned for the role. Hilaria refuted this rumor as well, but according to some insiders, Julianne might not be wrong.

An insider to the production of DWTS just weighed in on Hilaria’s casting. According to this anonymous person, the rumors surrounding her hiring are true.

“She was never at the top of their list. Honestly, she wasn’t even ON the list. But when a star bailed at the last minute, they needed a body – and Hilaria was standing by with her dance shoes already packed,” the source explained to Radar.

Another insider to the series chimed in and supported the claim.

“She wanted DWTS more than DWTS wanted her. It was less fate, more full-court press.”

Nevertheless, Hilaria was eliminated from the competition in Week 4. But even her exit has been called into debate. She claimed that she was bullied off the show. DWTS alum Bobby Bones quickly responded, assuring that this wasn’t the reason. He said she was eliminated because she wasn’t voted for – simple as that.

Whether she’s still on the show, it seems like this Hilaria despites are going to continue.

Dancing with the Stars airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+. It streams on Hulu the next day.
