Kelsea Ballerini seems relieved to not have Chase Stokes in her romantic life anymore.
The pair had been seeing each other since February 2023, but it seems Chase’s ego was too much for the country singer to handle. By all accounts, Chase was never a good match for Kelsea. She will hope her next relationship is with someone simpler and “a guy less full of himself,” according to an insider.
She’s taking the split extremely well, remaining positive and determined to stay true to herself.

Their official break-up in September must have felt like a weight lifted off Kelsea’s shoulders.
The Outer Banks actor and Kelsea evidently didn’t always live in the same world. “She realized in hindsight Chase wasn’t a match, and she’s better off with a guy from her own world,” an insider told RadarOnline. She wants to make sure her next boyfriend isn’t “bound by the fake world of Hollywood,” the insider adds.
While both celebrities lead busy lives, Chase was too career-driven for her liking. Even though it sounds like she’s better off without him, Kelsea isn’t completely immune to the emotional pain of their break-up. “It’s heartbreaking … because she still loved him,” says the insider. Keith Urban reportedly helped her move following the split. Keith is going through his own divorce at the moment with actress Nicole Kidman.
While ego may have partly damaged the relationship between Kelsea and Chase, there’s more to it than that. Jealousy apparently ran rampant with the actor. That ultimately became too much for the Grammy Award nominee to handle.
The singer is headlining the Kelsea Ballerini – Live on Tour, the fifth of her career. Meanwhile, the fifth and final season of Chase’s show Outer Banks will be released in 2026. Chase was featured in Kelsea’s music video for the song First Rodeo in 2024.
