The trailer for the new season of Stranger Things dropped yesterday, and fans noticed something a bit … odd. David Harbour barely features in the clip, despite playing a main character in the show. The trailer’s release comes amid the buzz around Lily Allen’s new breakup album that accuses the actor of cheating.
David Harbour was hardly in the new Stranger Things trailer
The trailer was released on October 30, offering a glimpse at the show’s fifth and final season. But one character didn’t seem to make the cut – Jim Hopper, played by David Harbour.
Despite being an important figure in the show for the past ten years, Jim only racked up a few seconds of screentime in the clip. His absence definitely didn’t go unnoticed.
One X user wrote: “I don’t like Stranger Things much, but David Harbour’s character’s deafening silence in the final trailer is HILARIOUS.”
The final season of the show will hit Netflix next month, just weeks after Lily’s bombshell album dropped. We’re sure the timing is completely coincidental. While Lily herself has said she doesn’t see the record as a form of revenge, its release is sure to make David Harbour’s press for the show a little … awkward.
The actor will probably be relieved when it’s all over, and not just because of the cheating allegations. He’s previously spoken about how he feels it’s time for the show to end.
Speaking to Interview magazine, he said: “When I started, I loved it so much. Buddies of mine who’d done TV shows for many years said, ‘By Season 3 or 4 you’ll be running.’ And I was like, ‘Never! I love all these guys so much.’ And then you get to a certain point where you’re like, ‘How much more story is there?’”
