Teyana Taylor isn’t ready to label her relationship with Aaron Pierre. Romance rumors were running rampant between the two since they were spotted together in February at the American Black Film Festival Honors.
There were numerous sightings of the two together after that, including a carousel of photos at the 2025 Oscars in May. Their relationship was confirmed in June, but Teyana isn’t ready to refer to him as boyfriend just yet.
Using that word for Aaron isn’t out of the question, but it’s something that they may decide together as a team.

It feels as though Teyana and Aaron’s relationship is about unity. That includes mutually agreeing on everything, including how to label their relationship.
Teyana explained to The Hollywood Reporter recently why she isn’t using the boyfriend label for now. “If that’s something that I decide to say, then it’s going to be something that we say together.”
While that topic either hasn’t been discussed or hasn’t been mutually agreed upon, it seems pretty clear that they have a love for one another. Teyana called the Mufasa actor her “apple pie.” The Gonne Love Me singer adds that she and Aaron “are each other’s safe space.”
It’s entirely possible the two haven’t had time to discuss the topic of what they call each other in public. One would understand, as both have highly demanding schedules, particularly now. Aaron has three upcoming movies in the works, including doing voice work on the comedy Goat, which is set for release in theatres in February. He’ll also be part of the movie Star Wars: Starfighter, which is set to release in 2027.
Teyana, meanwhile, just released her fourth album, Escape Room, in August. She’s also a main cast member in the legal drama All’s Fair, which premiered on November 4.
She may not call him boyfriend, but Teyana has another name for Aaron when they’re alone. She recently revealed that she calls him Mufasa, but not in the bedroom.
