You really don’t know where Love Island alums are going to end up after they leave the villa… Some end up in jail. Some end up on other reality shows, and others slip back into obscurity, never to be heard from again. However, Antigoni Buxton from Season 8 is making franchise history! The Love Island UK alum is set to compete in the 70th Eurovision Song Contest.
Love Island UK star Antigoni Buxton will represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2026
Eurovision announced Antigoni as the first artist set to compete next year. Antigoni, whose stage name is just her first name in all caps, has submitted entries for Eurovision in the past, according to the competition’s official website. She tried to represent Greece in 2023 and 2025. For 2026, she submitted an entry to represent Cyprus, and that turned out to be her golden ticket.
According to sources, the announcement came as a bit of a surprise for Eurovision fans. A singer named Josephine was originally the frontrunner to represent Cyprus. However, the honor wound up going to Antigoni, whose mother is a British television presenter.
Although Antigoni grew up in London, she is of Greek-Cypriot descent and speaks fluent Greek. On Instagram, she said she’s ready to make the country proud.
“I’m so honoured,” she wrote in a comment underneath the artist announcement.
Love Island fans will remember Antigoni from Season 8. She entered as a bombshell on Day 17, and she quickly coupled up. However, she didn’t last long. The guys wound up dumping her a week later. Here’s to hoping her turn at Eurovision goes better than her time in the villa.
Love Island is streaming on ITVX, and Eurovision 2026 will take place from May 12 to May 16, 2026, in Vienna, Austria.
