It looks like President Donald Trump is getting tired of engaging with the press. At least that’s what it looked like when the president appeared to doze off during a meeting/presser in the Oval Office. The event was about how tackling obesity can help improve sleep (the irony).
Did President Trump fall asleep during a press conference about weight-loss medication?
During the televised press event, the president was seen with his eyes closed on more than one occasion. The event was about how the government just announced lower prices for weight loss drugs for Medicare and Medicaid recipients. They also mentioned how tackling obesity can help improve sleep.
“People can sleep again, because they can breathe when they go to bed,” Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator of Medicaid and Medicare Service Centers, shared.
While he was discussing this, the president was photographed in the back, leaning against his chair with his eyes closed. The images prompted California Governor Gavin Newsom to take to social media and post, “Dozy Don is back!”
This nickname is a jab at Trump’s previous nickname. He called his predecessor “Sleepy Joe” Biden when he dropped out of the presidential race in 2024. Now, it looks like the tables have turned. The president has been resting his eyes at several other events, too.
Plus, this isn’t the first time people have brought up concerns about his health and vitality. While the president recently claimed to have excellent medical results at his last checkup, he does appear to be moving more slowly. He also gets tired easily, as evidenced by his overall demeanor at a subsequent event with leaders from Central Asia.
While the president has previously claimed that he needs very little sleep, that may no longer be the case as his age catches up with him. It seems like a third term is not the right move for him, both health and stress-wise, despite his teasing to the contrary.
