Hearing that two loved ones have cancer at the same time is incredibly hard for anyone. And that includes royalty. According to a royal biographer, Prince William was “shaken to the core” by Kate Middleton and King Charles’ health battles. But he apparently wasn’t allowed to take a step back.

William was (unsurprisingly) seriously rocked when both his wife and dad were hit by cancer, says biographer Robert Jobson. In his new book, “The Windsor Legacy”, he writes that the Prince was “shaken to the core” by the diagnoses, reports the Daily Mail.
Apparently, the future monarch asked to take a step back from his royal duties in the midst of the stressful news. Ultimately, Charles denied his son’s request to take on fewer engagements, writes the author.
The biographer also claims that William and Kate turned to religion to help get them through the difficult year. He writes: “Never known as a regular worshipper, William now attends church more frequently than in the past, though as privately as possible.”
William recently gave an update on Kate and Charles’ health struggles. During his appearance on Eugene Levy’s The Reluctant Traveler, he confirmed that Kate is now cancer free, noting that it’s “great news.”
He was a bit more vague when it came to the King’s cancer battle, noting that “Everything is progressing in the right way, which is all good news.”
The Prince also revealed the affect that Kate’s diagnosis had on the family. He said: “You maybe think to yourself, ‘It won’t happen to us, we’ll be OK. Because I think everyone has a positive outlook, you’ve got to be positive. But when it does happen to you, then it takes you into some pretty not great places.”
William and Kate recently moved their family into their new home in Windsor Great Park.
