Even friends as close as Gayle King and Oprah Winfrey don’t see eye to eye on everything.
The co-host of CBS Mornings is opening up about one thing that really irks her about the media mogul. The pair have known each other for decades and built a lifelong friendship.
Gayle previously worked as a special correspondent on the renowned Oprah Winfrey Show before moving on to several big gigs. Among them, she hosted The Gayle King Show, which was first a syndicated program and later moved to XM Satellite Radio.
That program eventually came to the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) for a short time. In business and outside of work, the two have maintained a close relationship.

There is a lot of harmony between Gayle and Oprah most of the time. However, when the two are in a car together, Gayle really has to bite her tongue. On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the mother of two says that Oprah doesn’t like to have music on when they’re in a vehicle together.
“It drives me crazy to be in the car. Can we just listen to some music?” begged Gayle. Comedian Tiffany Haddish was also on the program. She admitted, “I am that friend,” after hearing Gayle revelation. Gayle then suggested that Tiffany and Oprah go on a road trip together.
In addition to her hosting duties, Gayle serves as the editor-at-large for Oprah Daily. Gayle took some heat last month for taking a selfie with controversial Fox News personality Jesse Watters.
Oprah Daily ceased issuing print versions in 2020 but remains strong with its online platform. Both women were previously in the 1985 movie The Color Purple, though Gayle’s role as a Church-goer was uncredited. Oprah played the part of Sofia in the movie.
