One of the things I like about the Bravo network is they aren’t afraid to take chances on airing new and different material. Not every show has to be about housewives gossiping behind other’s backs and then denying it. Ahem, like a certain train rumor from Real Housewives of Orange County’s Vicki Gunvalson…or was it Tamra Judge? Or Shannon Beador? The mystery continues…
A few years ago, Bravo decided to take the leap into scripted TV series with shows like Odd Mom Out, Imposters, and Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce. All very good shows, which unfortunately ended up cancelled. Bravo even produced a drama, Dirty John, which got Connie Britton an Emmy nomination. Now they are going back to their reality TV roots and are debuting a new show with a very different twist.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne had a busy summer. Most of it was spent dealing with lawsuits, even though she led viewers to believe that was a non issue during the reunion. But au contraire, the lawsuits kept a coming!
Erika had to go to court for a $6 million dollar lawsuit against her
ATM husband, Tom Girardi. Then they received another lawsuit for allegedly not repaying a loan and using the money to fund their lavish lifestyle. So what’s a girl to do to afford a $40,000 a month glam squad? Perform with singer and rapper Brooke Candy in a music video, of course!
Denise Richards was the newbie on last season’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Viewers learned that Denise enjoyed tequila any time of day, and that her new husband, Aaron Phypers, had a rather large member. Let’s just say that Denise was pretty open, and it was refreshing. I’m glad she’ll be around next season.
Viewers also heard over and over how Denise used to be married to Charlie Sheen. In one of Denise’s first scenes on the show, she was on the phone with Charlie getting his opinion on whether their daughter Sam Sheen could go out with a boy or not. Surprisingly, their co-parenting relationship seemed pretty normal. But as usual, all is not what it seems on TV.
It’s weddings and engagements galore on Vanderpump Rules. The newest season will feature the Kentucky fried
sham wedding of Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor. Viewers will be treated to a Disney princess themed wedding in a castle, where we get to hear Brittany say “I’m making the biggest mistake of my life just to be on TV” “I do” in between guzzling shots of tequila and beer cheese. Can’t wait.
I’m not sure if we’ll see Randall Emmett’s proposal to Lala Kent, but I hope that we don’t. I don’t have the stomach to hear Lala say, “Yes, daddy,” after Randall pops the question. Barf. Watching Beau Clark propose to Stassi Schroeder in a cemetery is more my speed. I’ll happily watch Stassi’s wedding as well, it will be anything but boring and it will be in Europe. But will Stassi decide to have her wedding filmed for viewers?
The newest season of the Real Housewives of Orange County has been action packed so far. Take notes Real Housewives of Beverly Hills! Gina Kirschenheiter finally admitted her husband had an affair, and on top of that she got arrested for a DUI. And Gina’s not the only one with a relationship in trouble.
Emily Simpson’s marriage is crumbling before our eyes. To be fair, it would be a miracle if anyone could make a marriage work with Shane “no hugs” Simpson. And speaking of crumbling, that accurately describes Kelly Dodd and Tamra Judge’s friendship. Right off the bat, Tamra blurted out a rumor about Kelly that was pretty low.
And the apology tour begins for Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes. After a volatile season where NeNe crossed the line with her castmates and Bravo production staff, NeNe recently lamented on her actions and decided it was time to make amends.
But will anyone accept her apologies? Everyone knows she was triggered from the pressure of taking care of her husband, Gregg Leakes, because he had cancer. Sad as that may be, it’s not a free pass to rip off a camera man’s shirt, or allegedly shove a pregnant Porsha Williams. Still, there is one person who has recently moved on with NeNe; talk show queen and frenemy Wendy Williams.
I don’t know what it is, but reality TV is a relationship killer. For every wedding
paid by Bravo, there are just as many divorces and break ups. And it’s never pretty. Just look at Real Housewives of Orange County’s Gina Kirschenheiter and Shannon Beador.
And unfortunately, that bad luck continues even if they are no longer on reality TV. The latest casualty is Shahs of Sunset alum Lilly Ghalichi. Hey, not everyone can be like Vanderpump Rules stars Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd. #relationshipgoals
Talk about leaving on a high note. Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel recently dropped the bombshell that she is once again packing up her Birkin bags and leaving the show. The news came as a shock to fans since Bethenny really brought the drama last season and was even credited for saving the show.
Other than the big meltdown in Miami when Bethenny went off on Luann de Lesseps, B was surprisingly simpatico with the rest of the cast. Maybe because Carole Radziwill was out of the picture, and no one else stepped up to call her out on her BS. However, not everyone in the Bravo family was supposedly all sunshine and rainbows with Bethenny last season.
