What happened to the Vanderpump Rules of seasons past, where the focus was on restaurant drama, hooking up, partying, and cheating? Gone are the days of Jax Taylor throwing down wearing a chunky sweater or Stassi Schroeder saying she is the devil. Now the focus has shifted to engagement parties and crop top wedding dresses. Andy Cohen, if you’re reading, maybe it’s finally time for a recast.
The latest Pump Rules couple who will be
divorcing tying the knot are Brittany Cartwright and Jax. Brittany’s dream ever since she was a little girl was to have a fairy tale wedding, y’all. I’m sure she didn’t plan on marrying the court jester, but to each their own. This fairy tale wedding also includes 800 bridesmaids coast to coast, and Brittany made it clear to Lala Kent that she couldn’t possibly make it 801.
Fans of both Summer House and Vanderpump Rules got a pleasant surprise when the Pump Rules crew stopped by to visit the Summer House cast for a few episodes. Once Katie Maloney, Tom Schwartz, Stassi Schroeder, and Beau Clark arrived, they got to hear about all of the drama between Carl Radke and Paige DeSorbo.
You would think they would be talking about Carl and Scheana Marie instead. After all, with the VPR peeps visiting, wouldn’t they want to bring up drama about one of their own? Or better yet, toss out Beau or Katie and have Scheana come and visit instead. Even though it was a missed opportunity on the show, Carl recently discussed where he and Scheana currently stand.
Hollywood loves their reboots and remakes. Get ready for a new Top Gun, Indiana Jones, Men in Black, and a live action film for every Disney cartoon ever made. And don’t forget Clueless. For the love of God, please leave that perfect film alone. As Cher would say, “Ugh, as if!”
Reality TV has also hopped onto the reboot bandwagon. One of my favorite guilty pleasures, Temptation Island, just aired a brand new season. And I’m still reeling from that shocking finale aftermath with Kaci Campbell and Evan Smith. Now MTV has joined the club, and is bringing back their past hits too.
The drama got back on track this week between Camille Grammer and the rest of the ladies of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. We had a brief respite last week when Camille got married in Hawaii. The mean girls gang of Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley, Lisa Rinna and Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave put their best-manicured foot forward and mostly pretended like they were happy to be there. Which is crazy to me, who wouldn’t want a free trip to Hawaii?
There were a few grumbles, mainly from Kyle who was still whining about the imaginary bridesmaid duties she had to endure. And there was the made up drama about how Kyle found out Lisa Vanderpump took a lie detector test. RHOBH needs to hire new writers. Shockingly though, Camille’s nemesis, Teddi, remained fairly quiet during the trip. She was very polite and didn’t talk smack about Camille during the wedding. She just waited until right after.
This season of Vanderpump Rules showed the complete undoing of James Kennedy and Lala Kent’s friendship. The former best friends who stood up against the mean girls club of Katie Maloney, Kristen Doute, and Stassi Schroeder, had finally fallen apart. Lala had flipped sides and joined the witches of WeHo, leaving her friendship with James behind her.
This move also impacted Lala’s relationships with James’ girlfriend Raquel Leviss, and SUR’s queen of brunch, Billie Lee. Lala turned on all of them. She viciously attacked Raquel, James and Billie during a brunch at SUR. And she went after Billie at Scheana Marie’s housewarming party. One would think that any sort of friendship with Lala would be beyond repair. Surprisingly, that is not the case.
The latest Vanderpump Rules reunion turned into the Everyone Hates James Kennedy three-part special. Almost the entire cast of the show had it out for him. You would think he had kidnapped all of their firstborns. But it all boiled down to James rapping about Jax Taylor cheating, and a fat shaming comment to Katie Maloney, that united the cast against him.
The only cast members to stick up for him during the reunion were Tom Sandoval, Ariana Madix, and Raquel Leviss. Which is not a surprise, as Raquel is James girlfriend. And Tom has been a vocal advocate for James all season. He even confronted Katie and called her a bully. But where was James’ other supposed ally, Scheana Marie, in all this mess?
Vanderpump Rules star Jax Taylor had a fairly quiet season this go around. Usually the show ends up focusing on what antics Jax does, such as partying, cheating, and stealing sunglasses. Oh, and being the number one guy in the group. But since his father’s passing, Jax has waxed poetic that he is a changed man.
His proof was proposing to Brittany Cartwright. No cheating, shoplifting or going to jail this time! His main drama instead was raging at everyone’s favorite punching bag, James Kennedy. To be fair, he actually had a legitimate reason to be upset, unlike the rest of the group. James had rapped about Jax cheating with Faith Stowers right in front of Brittany at SUR. But, Jax being Jax, something shady had to go down this year.
Bravo’s most popular executive, Andy Cohen, recently had a baby boy this year. The initial news was a surprise to everyone. Especially to the OG housewives, Kyle Richards, NeNe Leakes, Teresa Giudice, Ramona Singer, and Vicki Gunvalson who were in attendance when Andy dropped the bombshell he was having a baby in just six weeks on Watch What Happens Live.
Kyle immediately threw an epic baby shower with almost all of the Real Housewives in attendance. Shortly after, little Benjamin Allen Cohen was born. Since then, Andy has been out and about with the baby, even flying with him on planes. It seems to me he would eventually need a babysitter. Someone from the cast of Vanderpump Rules seems like a good idea, no?
