Paul Staehle and his wife Karine Staehle are the couple that dropped the word divorce many times in their tenure on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way. It diluted the sting of it. And if they didn’t split up after Karine watched Paul climb into a doghouse and start talking to himself, what could possibly tear these two apart?
Maybe it was living together long-term that did it. After being apart off and on for many years, Paul was finally able to move his wife and their 7-month-old son Pierre Martins Staehle to the United States in June of this year. But the supposed happiness of reuniting the family didn’t last long.
The latest episode of 90 Day Fiance has us at an impasse, much like our couples. Between the constant red flags, lack of communication and awkward confessionals, I left this 90 Day Fiance episode feeling like none of these couples should be together, let alone be on the marriage fast-track. We also get to meet a brand new couple, who have about as much chemistry as two people using a translator app to flirt.
Michael introduces Juliana to his ex-wife, Sarah, and while it seems promising, even Max and Cece couldn’t break the tension with their cuteness. Robert and Anny continue to bicker their way through car rides and restaurants. Anny barely makes it through a meeting with Bryson’s grandparents without clawing their faces off. Farmer Mike and Natalie reunite in Ukraine. Aside from the crippling credit card debt Mike is hiding, they are really the only couple I like and am rooting for. Anna Campisi and Mursel Mistanoglu continue to not communicate their way through life and even their mutual love of
nerdiness beekeeping can’t bring them together. At least we didn’t have to sit through all the uncomfortable conversations in front of her kids.
Tania Too Hype and Syngin….oh man, where do I even start? Too Hype really lived up to her name this episode when poor Syngin found out the Shed of Dreams was really a nightmare. Finally, we got to meet our latest
disaster couple, Blake and Jasmine, who has definitely come to the U.S. for Blake (snort) and not her sister who just so happens to live 10 minutes away.
Eric Nichols was blind-sided, as were all 90-Day Fiance fans, when Larissa Dos Santos Lima broke up with him on Instagram. These two were hot and heavy for eight months already when Larissa decided it was time to end things. Everything about their relationship screamed for social media attention. Larissa even pulled Eric into the 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After Reunion to successfully badger Colt Johnson into a meltdown.
After Larissa dumped him, Eric decided to get even by having dinner with Colt and his mother, Debbie Johnson. In an obvious slight to Larissa, Eric posted pictures of the dinner on social media, including one of himself playing Deb’s infamous slot machine. Since Eric and Larissa made a point to share every aspect of their relationship with followers, it seems only logical that they would update fans on their reconciliation. But strictly as friends.
90 Day Fiance spinoff 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way successfully drew audiences in with a new premise: have the American partner move to a foreign country. Part of the appeal was watching the U.S. citizen reacting to their new culture and navigating the ways of the country.
For Deavan Clegg, it was the adjustment of living in a small space with husband Jihoon Lee and his parents. Since the show ended, Deavan often shares pictures of her life in Korea. And goodness, the food looks amazing! Unfortunately, the learning curve of living in a new country sometimes has negative consequences as well. Especially when it comes to decisions about body and health issues.
On last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance, the couples start settling into their new life in America. Did I say “settling”? I meant “arguing” because that’s exactly what started happening. Mercury is clearly in the 90 Day retrograde with all heck breaking loose for our no-longer-long-distance lovers.
Tania Too Hype and Syngin haven’t even said goodbye to her friends before she throws down the gauntlet on having kids. Clock’s a tickin’, Syngin! We get to meet our newest member of the club, a Washington farmer named Mike. He is anxiously waiting on Natalie from Ukraine. Little does Natalie know, Mike is hiding a secret that might hinder their future plans. Anna Campisi and Mursel Mistanoglu continue to play a game of “Seriously, why are we ever together? Honestly”. Damned if I know. Robert and Anny can’t even make it through a car ride without fighting. Not one single car ride, y’all. Emily gives birth to Sasha‘s third child (that we know of) and surprise! It doesn’t go as planned. Finally, Juliana arrives into the loving arms of Michael…..and a stretch Hummer limo. Hold on tight, friends – this Hummer limo has a few bumps along the way.
90 Day Fiance alum Leida Margaretha made it clear that she wanted to be her husband Eric Rosenbrook’s “number one priority.” As the season progressed, Leida alienated Eric’s ex-wife and elder daughter. Tasha Rosenbrook was the prime target because she was sharing an apartment with her father at the time Leida moved to the U.S.
On screen, the drama peaked when Leida threw Tasha out of their apartment. The damage between father and daughter seemed irreparable as Eric backed the decision. Offscreen, the drama escalated on social media to the point where Leida filed a restraining order against her step-daughter, who recently changed her name to Alari Stark.
90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days couple Jeniffer and Timothy often seemed a mismatch. She wanted Timothy to participate in outdoor activities, while he was more content to spend the day at the spa. Jeniffer was pushing for intimacy while Timothy held off. Regardless, the two decided to continue with their long distance relationship.
Then there was the issue of Timothy’s ex Veronica, with whom he is still very close. Jeniffer was understandably concerned about the amount of influence Veronica had in Tim’s life. The two ladies had a cringeworthy video chat that proved the point. Veronica asked Jeniffer if she and Timothy had been intimate yet. Timothy also chose to give Jeniffer a ring that he first proposed to Veronica with. Yikes! That was everything we saw in Season 3. But how are these two fairing in their unconsummated, long-distance relationship? And does Veronica still insert herself into their affairs?
Last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance didn’t disappoint! Secrets were revealed and relationships were questioned. This episode gave me just enough crazy to be able to make it through the week thankful for small annoyances. I spent half the episode just shaking my head in disbelief. I don’t know what we did to deserve this show, but it is the gift that keeps on giving. It’s tough to know where to start. There were so many cringe-worthy moments.
Tania races to meet Syngin at the airport in time for a special surprise. Anna introduces Mursel to her mother and reveals a secret. Emily and Sasha have a tense meeting with his ex-wife. Allegations during an interview may prevent Juliana from coming to the U.S. Let’s get straight into the 90 Day Fiance recap!
