I firmly believe there is literally nothing Kandi Burruss can’t do. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star is a singer, songwriter, producer, restauranteur, actor, businesswoman, philanthropist — the list goes on. She’s also a badass mom and wife to Todd Tucker, and they are the definition of a power couple. Even though some people (*cough cough* NeNe Leakes) question Kandi’s career or come up, she remains unbothered and always finds a way to make her coin. The moral is don’t start none with Kandi and there won’t be none. Hear that, Phaedra Parks?
Season 13 of RHOA showed me that while I love Kandi, she might be beyond the show. While she used to get in blow-up fights with the cast, now she seems calm and collected. Well, unless you’re messing with her food. She doesn’t seem to hold grudges, forgiving Porsha Williams after all their history. She knows the definition of girl code and could teach Kenya Moore a thing or two about loyalty. Plus, she’s the Mistress Angel and has always been true to who she is on the show, through the good times and the bad. (Those rough days of Todd vs. Mama Joyce have stuck with me).
The Real Housewives of Atlanta has really undergone a transformation over the past few seasons, mostly due to NeNe Leakes‘ dramatic exit. NeNe’s final season on the show was a letdown considering her OG status. She barely appeared in episodes and fought with everyone in her path. Well, accept her No. 1 sidekick Marlo Hampton. She ditched the Zoom reunion never to return and has called for fans to boycott Bravo since her hasty exit.
NeNe is as skilled at being a reality TV personality as she is bad at being a good friend. She’s burned a lot of bridges throughout her time on RHOA because she’s the queen of shade, even if she takes it too far. Particularly, her decades-long friendship with Cynthia Bailey crashed and burned over 50 Cynt’s relationship with Kenya Moore. And we thought 50 Cynt was the weird friend with her contracts. The two made up, sort of, but haven’t stopped throwing shade back and forth now and again. Like, NeNe would only go to Cynthia’s wedding if she was paid to attend. She’s all about her bag. But to be fair, it’s clear after Season 13 that Cynthia has no storyline without NeNe.
After Season 13 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, the cast is clearly due for a shake-up. Marlo Hampton needs a peach in her hand, to fix the “snoozefest” of a show. Kenya Moore and Porsha Williams’ long-time feud has been overplayed. And we even had #Bologate and Prophet Lott, yet the season just didn’t hit like the good old days. But I gotta give the ATL ladies a break — the COVID-19 pandemic took its toll on all Bravo shows. And it definitely wasn’t the worst — looking at you, Real Housewives of Orange County.
There’s been a lot of buzz about who will appear on RHOA Season 14. LaToya Ali may be one and done after her explosive debut. There are always rumors swirling that Phaedra Parks and/or Sheree Whitfield will make a return. Maybe even NeNe Leakes, never say never. And it’s obvious some of the girls just need to go.
Even though Cynthia Bailey went forward with her
superspreader wedding last year, she brought very little to the show. She really has been chilling on the sidelines since the days of Peter Thomas causing drama are behind her. Just look at the last reunion — she barely said a peep. Aside from defending having a huge wedding in the midst of a global pandemic, so big that even Bravo bailed on filming.
Does anyone even remember what happened on the latest season of Real Housewives of Atlanta? Ever since the latest Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia
chaos engagement news was dropped, it’s been almost completely band-aided over in my mind. Cheating and pregnancy and neck tattoos – oh my! I have no idea what to believe, but talk about the gossip heard ’round the world. Even the reigning-read-queen Eva Marcille chimed in on the debacle.
In case you’re experiencing a similar post-Atlanta amnesia, let me refresh your memory with in one word; Bolo. Michael “Bolo”Bolwaire was promised to flip the script on RHOA before the season even began. But who knew it would be literal and figurative? He stirred up the drama between the women, and in some cases, their men. More recently, the iconic stripper will be reading from a new script alongside former Housewife, Eva.
The Bravo gods have answered our (my) prayers — Heather Dubrow is returning to the Real Housewives of Orange County. The news of Fancy Pant’s long-awaited return comes along with some arguably even better news — Kelly Dodd and Braunwyn Windham-Burke are OUT for good. No more Kelly Fraud’s nasty comments and total ignorance. Or Braunwyn’s over-the-top narcissism. Both ladies were eyeing for a return, but the fans have spoken. And Boringwin really uprooted her entire life as she knew it for a TV show that doesn’t want her back. What a shame. Oh, and Elizabeth Lyn Vargas is out after one season, but we hardly got to know her anyway.
The Fancy Pants news is just too much to bear. We’ll finally see the completed Dubrow family mansion. Terry Dubrow, despite duping fans about Heather’s return, will be back on our screens to provide plastic surgery advice and corny dad jokes. And this could lead to a potential Tamra Judge return, but no news has been announced yet. CHAMPS FOR EVERYONE, except maybe Shannon Beador.
After a year in a pandemic, a United States election, and a massive boost to the Black Lives Matter movement, reality TV is looking a little differently these days. True Bravo fans will remember the 2016 Real Housewives of Atlanta episodes where Phaedra Parks and some of the other wives attended Black Lives Matter events. Four years later, these other franchises are still playing catch up. That includes the iconic Real Housewives of New York who finally welcomed their first Black cast member after eleven seasons! Welcome to a more accurate reality on your reality TV screen!
For boasting a life of worldliness and civility, Luann de Lesseps sure does seem lost. Though, who can forget that dreadful Diana Ross costume she tried to pass off just a few seasons ago? Shockingly, Sonja Morgan is coming through in a way I don’t think anyone predicted. Sonja was both eloquent and accurate when taking up for the movement and newest Housewife, Eboni K. Williams in last weeks’ episode.
Housewives new and old, and from cities far and wide, have all weighed in on Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams’ recent
trainwreck of an engagement. To sum it up, P got engaged to Simon Guobadia, the almost ex-husband of her old friend Falynn Guobadia, after ONE MONTH of dating. The two moved quicker than quick, with Simon giving his new fiance a fat ring and P getting Simon’s name tattooed ON HER NECK. Not even Bravo producers can make up this complete display of nonsense, which includes cheating allegations, an eyebrow-raising timeline and a whole lot of haters.
Thanks to Shamea Morton’s matchmaking skills, we’ll likely have a Bravo special about one of Porsha’s THREE weddings, as she does seem to be a network darling. Andy Cohen says Porsha just loves love, but some people (Marlo Hampton) believe this entire relationship is one big red flag. Porsha hasn’t had the best luck in love in the past, and getting her old friend’s husband before they’ve signed their names on divorce papers is the ultimate betrayal of girl code. This storyline is already beating the drawn-out #BoloGate, and Bravo hasn’t even begun filming Season 14.
Marlo Hampton may not be a full-time Housewife, but she delivered the drama last season on Real Housewives of Atlanta. During the bachelorette party trip, hell froze over when Marlo and Kenya Moore made up. Of course, Kenya wanted to out Porsha Williams as one of the RHOA cast members who got frisky with stripper Bolo. Porsha wasn’t happy to see her friend Marlo siding with Kenya.
Marlo accused Porsha of lying when she denied having sex with Bolo. At the dinner with Big Freedia in New Orleans, Marlo had a melt-down at the table because she was trapped in the middle between warring peaches Kenya and Porsha. Marlo was so extra during that dinner.
