No season of Survivor would be complete if we didn’t compile the all-time list of winners each season…especially following a season full of all winners! With 40 seasons now in the rear-view, we just witnessed Tony Vlachos becoming the latest person to win Survivor and becoming the game’s second-ever TWO-TIME winner…but where does this specific season win sit on the all-time list?
Each season of Survivor is unique, featuring its own set of rules, and players. Sometimes, comparing who is “best” comes down purely to one’s own personal opinion…that being said, the two players with two winning seasons top the list, and I’ll list my reasons as to why one should be listed atop the other.
All 38 people who won Survivor obviously did something right in their season to have won. So this ranking is based on three things, and it’s quite simple: How the person played the game – their particular winning season – according to Survivor’s moniker of “Outwit,” “Outplay,” “Outlast.” Read on in order to see the Top Survivor Winners of All-Time and where ultimately ranks.

Survivor: Edge of Extinction is now a thing of the past, but Survivor itself is still going strong. Having just finished its 38th (!!!) season, it still wins its time-slot on Wednesdays and is number one in key young adult demographics. It has, in fact, already been picked up for two more seasons, ensuring that we will at least see a Season 40 come 2020.
But before we get into that milestone Season 40 (which we will), we now know some details about the upcoming Season 39. As Jeff Probst revealed to us at the Edge of Extinction Live Reunion Show, 39 will be called “Survivor: Island of the Idols,” and will feature yet another format-changing twist featuring two of the most iconic former contestants to have ever played the game.

When asked by CBS as to who I wanted to interview at season’s end, the real answer was: Everyone. In a “normal” season of Survivor, I would interview each and every contestant, week-by-week, as they were voted out of the game. But when CBS introduced the theme and twist of Survivor: Edge of Extinction, the format did not lend itself to those traditional weekly exit interviews. So needless to say, there is a lot to discuss now that we’ve reached the end.

With 38 seasons now in the rear-view, we just witnessed Chris Underwood, the 26-year-old District Sales Manager from Greenville, South Carolina, becoming the latest person to win Survivor…but where does this sit on the all-time list?
There are no words. No words to describe the – disgust? – that I’m feeling right now towards Survivor. But oh, words will come. Lots of them.
I will try to get through and formulate my thoughts on what looks on the surface to be a clear “jump the shark” moment for my favorite show. By all accounts, up until tonight, Survivor: Edge of Extinction was a good, if not great, edition of the best Reality TV Competition Show on the planet. But it wasn’t able to stick the landing. And in fact, not only was tonight’s ending shocking and controversial, but it may have caused permanent damage to the show’s legacy.
As I do at the beginning of every recap, please heed the following. Remember that this recap assumes that you have already seen this week’s Finale Episode of Survivor: Edge of Extinction. We’ve now reached the edge…the edge of the season, that is. The Survivor: Edge of Extinction two-hour Finale is now just one week away, next Wednesday, May 15 (CBS of course!). The stage is set, the end is near, but judging by tonight’s penultimate episode, there is still much work that needs to be done before anyone walks away with the title of Sole Survivor.
