The new season of the Real Housewives of Orange County does not premier until tomorrow night, but the stars of the show are already starting to make headlines.
TMZ is reporting that Slade Smiley, serial housewife dater & boyfriend of Gretchen Rossi, owes $80,000 in back child support to the mother of his sick son. What makes this worse is the fact that Slade’s 9 year old son, Grayson, is is fighting an inoperable brain tumor .
Slade has filed a request in L.A. County Superior Court, asking a judge to lower the child support bill because he says he’s unemployed and makes zero dollars. Slade’s rep tells TMZ that Slade has “jumped through burning hoops to take care of [his son's] well-being and health.”
The mother of Slade’s son however tells a different story, stating that Slade has only seen his sick child twice in the last year and a half, and hasn’t even sent the kid a birthday card.

Didn’t Slade have a really good job in Orange County, not to mention a black American Express credit card? What happened to his fabulous job? I remember when Slade foreclosed on his house in Coto. That was around the time he was following around his ex, Jo De La Rosa, when she was trying to start her singing career in Hollywood. What happened to his house in Hollywood? Was that only a rental for that dating show he did with Jo? If he owns the house, he should sell that house, downsize and use the money to pay for his sick son!!!
You’d think that even if Slade lost his job, he would be doing “anything” (even working at a McDonalds) to support his son’s medial bills. I’d bet he thinks he is better than everyone else and he will not work for under a certain, ridiculous amount to support “his” lifestyle, rather than support his sick son!
It appears that he is living off of Gretchen who is living off her now deceased ex-fiancee, Jeff’s, money. Slade doesn’t care. He wants to be comfortable in this economy and he could care less that his career has gone to sh** and that he thinks he is better than everyone else in taking a regular, 8-5 job. Apparently he thinks he is so much better than everyone else that he won’t even take a sh** job to support this kids medical bills!!!!

Throw his deadbeat a– in jail. There is NO excuse for not taking care of the children you have created. NONE!
I bet the $80,000 is entirely child support, from never giving his ex a dime for raising the child. The medical bills must be astronomical and he will obvioulsy never contribute to his own son’s care. Most likely he stopped working when he realized that he would have to put his earnings toward his sons medical bills and became your typical deadbeat dad.
Any money he makes for showing his face on that stupid show should be garnished. He and his gold digging girlfriend should be hiding their Heckyl and Jeckyl faces in the sand in shame.
Gretchen was showing off the interior of her ugly house on E last night. It was nothing special and she has the worst taste. Her bedroom was all black, including the bedding, as a homage to Marilyn Monroe. I think she likens herself to her, even though those fake cheekbones make her look like Skeletor.
I worked the court system until they put my children’s deadbeat dad in jail for contempt of court for non-payment of child support, on March 13, 2009…. I Had to prove that he had spent $$$$ and had the ability to pay…even though he said he was “unemployed”. He served 31 days of the 90 day sentence in the Orange County jail. Child support services is now collecting my support and getting the arrears amount calculated (@10% interest)
HEY SLADE…up for some time in the slammer?
He should be outside digging trenches to help pay for that child’s medical bills. He is so selfish, no wonder he is playing with Gretchen and the camera’s instead of working even a small time job to pay for this child. Makes me sick to hear of stories like this.
Slade is a scum bag, plain and simple. Gretchen is showing how stupid she is by even being associated with a loser like Slade. They deserve one another — two totally self-centered asses.
A while back on another blog entry I mentioned Slade’s massive child support obligation, and his sick son — and someone responded by telling me that Slade’s ex wife was just making up stories to smear his celebrity status.
I guess it was true after all, huh? Are the same people still sticking up for serial Housewife-humper Slade? The guy really does have a critically ill child that he totally neglects. The boy’s mother set up a charitable organization named after Grayson, and maintains a website updating everyone on his progress. Not to be outdone, Slade set up a website using his son’s name — and the only things on the page are Slade’s head shot with information on how to book him for appearances. Slade’s name should be Sludge. He’s lower than a whale’s belly.
Obviously this guy’s a huge douche for not paying child support. But to not even SEE your kid when he has an inoperable brain tumor? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

She tells all about his illness and what they have been through for the past 3 years. Grayson has had so much pain with this brain tumor. Slade is not in any of the pictures. I guess he is just in denial about what is really going on with his son. So sad.
Agreed, Slade is a total douche-bag. He is only concerned about making it to fame and dating a younger, hotter, vulnerable chick. I think he is the only one that has slept with 3 housewives in just a couple OC Housewives seasons (Jo, Lauri and now Gretchen). Slade should have no free time whatsoever to make appearances for any media or another OC Housewives season, he should put all his time into caring for his son.
Slade is doing what Slade does best:
-Making media appearances.
-Hoping to one day become famous for no reason at all.
-Chasing Jo around still through her non-existent singing career. Slade seems to be the only one who likes her music and can bear sitting through it.
-Going through a mid-life crisis.
-Attracting and sleeping with as many housewives and other women as he possible can.
-Searching for a woman with a house ’cause we all know he lost his mini mansion as seen on the show.
-Ignoring his children b/c he cares about Slade. Slade needs to take care of Slade.
-Hopefully practicing safe sex with Gretchen ’cause it would be shameful for him to have anymore kids that he cannot care for physically and financially.
-Still a control freak.
-Still living above his means.
-Still unemployed but won’t work a normal, regular job cause “Slade too good for that.”
-A Hustler.
-Still has that receeding hairline and needs to shave his face more often. He looks dirty.
-A total arse to society.
Leslie–thanks for the link. I just read everything on Grayson’s site. I want to hug that little boy and his poor mother. He has experience so much physical pain and so many surgeries at his young age.
Anyone who doesn’t see their son when they’re going through something like that is disgusting and should be publicly shamed. Slade takes up with a trash girlfriend and focuses on seeking fame when he should be spending all his time either working, or by his son’s side.
I hope this story gets more and more attention so Grayson’s disease will gain nation attention that will hopefully lead to public donations and interest from medical specialist. And so that Slade’s quest for fame will backfire, and no one will touch that douche with a 10 foot pole.

LazyLosAngeles – Thanks for your input on Grayson’s illness. I agree and feel the same way. I also hope that everybody reads it. That brave little boy has been through so much for the past 3 1/2 years.
People need to know what kind of a person Slade Smiley is by reading his son’s website and knowing that his dad wasn’t in any of the pictures or that he rarely visits him or pays child support and is out doing publicity.

Not suprised. What an EPIC FAIL of a guy. He loves to run around spouting gossip about all the other housewives, who are bad don’t get me wrong, but there are a million fingers pointing back at him. And all of the accusations are true. It’s clear he’s unhappy with himself because all he can do is whine about others and their problems. I watch the show because it makes me feel excellent about the fact that I have morals and I don’t treat people with disrespect. He just gives off an air of “skeezy” “stupid” and “greedy”.
And Jo – RULE #1 when trying to start a legitimate singing career – DON’T GO ON A STUPID REALITY TV SHOW. You will always be labeled as a person on that show, and have ZERO credibility. She wasn’t even that good anyway.

Alot of men do this!!~! My ex-husband owes me over $70,000.00. Shit happens!!~~!! They just feel that they are paying the ex-wife…not the son. It is messed up!!~!! Been there done that!!~! Sometimes the man has GOT to MAN up!!~!! Take care of their babies!!~!
If he doesn’t pay then the state will. Why would someone go and dig ditches when he can claim to be unemployeed and have his child’s medical bills covered at 100%. No insurance to have to deal with or deductables. Medicaid is 100% for children, no questions asked. If he went to Walmart and got health insurance then his child would haft to jump through hoops and insurance red tape. He knows enough about insurance to know that being “poor” and “without” in the USA is better than being working class as far as health care is concerned.

Jen are you serious? Slade has made more than enough money to pay for insurance premiums for his son. There is NO excuse for not paying his support. He’s a filthy, bottom-feeding POS who should be thrown in jail for not supporting the child he helped bring into this world.
We met both Slade and Michelle while we were living in Coto. Michelle is a nice caring person and she does not deserve to go through this. Her mistake was marrying him. Slade, on the other hand is very flaky.
