Gretchen Rossi Nearly Loses Home To Foreclosure

There is no question that Real Housewives of Orange County alums Gretchen Rossi and fiancé (and serial Housewife dater) Slade Smiley, are a polarizing couple. The duo started dating during Season 5 of RHOC.

Gretchen popped the question to Slade with a cringe-worthy over-the-top proposal that played out on Season 8. It was unforgettable. Believe me—I’ve tried.

Also unforgettable are Slade’s issues with paying child support for his son Grayson, who suffers from an inoperable brain tumor. Not cool, Slade. In fact, Slade’s supposed jobless status was always a topic on RHOC, even though Gretchen insisted that her man was working. Are you sure, Gretchen? Just wondering.

The couple struggled for years with infertility, but they finally welcomed a baby girl, Skylar Gray, on July 10, 2019. Skylar’s middle name is a tribute to Slade’s son, Grayson.

But while Gretchen was settling into motherhood, she was also facing the loss of her home. In court documents obtained by The Blast, Gretchen’s home was scheduled to be auctioned off on August 26 if Gretchen didn’t pay $26,000. In April of 2019, Quality Loan Service Corporation notified Gretchen that she was in default on her condo’s mortgage. They told Gretchen that she needed to pay $25,894.91 within 90 days, or they would set an auction date. Gretchen, Skylar, and Slade live in the 3-bedroom condo located in Costa Mesa. At that time, the total unpaid balance on the condo’s mortgage was $431,529.79.

Bravo’s The Daily Dish reported that Gretchen and Slade addressed the situation on their new podcast, Knot Too Taboo. “I still live in my house. My house didn’t go up for auction. It was supposed to go up, I think, August 26 or something like that,” Gretchen revealed. “The house never went into auction. I still have my house [and] we’re just fine.”

But Gretchen did cop to having money woes since leaving RHOC. “That was a very big paycheck for us and one day that light was switched off and we were like, ‘Holy hell, that is a lot of money that we don’t have coming in any more.’”  Gretchen added, “We had to work really hard to find out what our next thing was and how we were going to make money… at that level. When you have that large of a paycheck coming in and that’s gone, you want to replace that.”

Right now, the couple’s income comes from BioReigns, their new CBD company. Gretchen’s career as a social media influencer and Slade’s production company also bring in money for the family.
