The now infamous White House party crashers spoke out for the first time this morning on NBC’s The Today Show. Bravo TV, creators of the Real Housewives Franchise, is also owned by NBC Universal, the parent company of NBC.
Michaele and Tareq Salahi told the “Today” show Tuesday that there’s more to their side of the story — an explanation that would exonerate them from allegations of misconduct in the breach of White House security. When asked to expand on the explanation, they failed to, claiming they wanted to would wait until the Secret Service was done investigating. However, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs, appearing on the same program, insisted the Salahis had not been invited.
Tareq Salahi said he and his wife were cooperating with the Secret Service in its investigation of the incident. And he said they both have “great respect” for President Barack Obama. “We’re greatly saddened by all the circumstances … portraying my wife and I as party crashers. I can tell you we did not party-crash the White House,” Salahi said.
The couple also made it clear they were not being paid for their Today Show interview, and also denied the recent AP news story which alleged they were looking to cash in on their new “fame.”
In other news, a different report claims Bravo might be having second thoughts about casting the Salahis to appear on their upcoming show, the Real Housewives of Washington D.C. According to Popeater, a huge fight erupted within Bravo’s New York offices yesterday over what to do with accused White House crashers. Andy Cohen, host and Senior Vice president of Original Programming of Bravo, is said to be worried about the reputation of his Emmy nominated network. Allegedly, Andy wants no part of the fame hungry couple and wants them axed from the upcoming ‘Real Housewives of DC.
A Bravo spokes person said, “The decision as to who will be included in ‘The Real Housewives of D.C.’ will not be made for several months.”
If this story is true about Bravo wanting no part of the Salahis, then it would make them appear a bit hypocritical, considering the success of their housewives franchise is based solely on casting posers, fakers, wannabes, and fame hungry women. The Salahis fit right in with the formula they created for their hit series. In my opinion, it would be borderline idiotic to remove these two from the show, as long as Bravo was unaware of their party crashing scheme, I say leave them on the show. The ratings will go through the roof. And at the end of the day, isn’t that what Bravo wants?
TELL US – DO YOU THINK BRAVO SHOULD AXE THE SALAHIS FROM THE SHOW?

Great Post!
The Salahis have more than likely derailed the Real Housewife Franchise. With all the drama and fighting with each 2009/2010 series, who needs them? Posers, etc were the order of the day on Bravo~now it is just losers and liars. Time to tune into Hoarders, Intervention and Dr. Drew and his Sex Addicts. Atleast those shows are more believable.
Shame on the Today show for giving these morons further exposure. They didn’t get the scoop on anything either. They refused to talk, so why were they on the program?
Bravo better think twice about the lengths they will go to for ratings. People will draw the line with attention whores when they break the law and expose how easy it is to do so and get away with it.
These 2 should be sent to prison along with all of the pictures of them crowding celebrities for a photo op. They could plaster them all over the walls of their prison cells and rot there.
Not just wannabes, losers, liars, and bottom-feeders on the RH series – its *criminals* such as Slade, Matt Keough, Greg Leakes (who has an extensive criminal history) and now Tamra Barney’s son who is going to jail.
Foreclosures, bankruptcies, evictions (Lynn Curtin), court rejection of parental custody (Lisa Wu Hartwell), and business failures all typify the Real Housewives series participants.
My view about the White House crashers is that they crashed the WHITE HOUSE and created an embarrassing and potentially dangerous situation for not only our President, but also the leader of India. The fact this occurred is a national humiliation to all Americans.
These people should not be on any reality show period!
They need to be arrested, charged, convicted, and imprisoned.
These Salahi people created a road map for terrorists or other sickos to fearlessly enter the White House, maybe with chemicals on their hands or other biologicals and to inflict harm upon our President OF ANY PARTY and cause our nation to endure YET ANOTHER CATASTROPHE.
Bravo should be ashamed and Andy is right to want them off the show.
When you are on a reality TV show, you are opening up your life to the world, if there are skeletons in your closet, they are going to come out, and yep that does make drama, and the real housewives franchise seems to thrive on the drama.
But, when you are trying to get on a reality TV show, and you are causing this type of drama in the news media already, then I don’t know if those 2 would be the best fit, I mean really? The President???
I agree with Andy, adding them might make the show feel like it jumped the shark. Keep the series out of DC go to Chicago, Toronto, or Boston, keep the show’s concept the same, people who are affluent, but not known to the general public, and we get to see how they live.
Unreal – the Salahi’s need to be prosecuted – and BRAVO should NOT put these 2 on their show. This is not the first time they crashed an event, they did this same exact thing at the previous Black Caucus Event where the President was the keynote speaker. This to me, screams STALKER and these 2 need to be prosecuted. While the other Real Housewives are raggedy deadbeats posing as upper echelons (only Kandi and the New York women seem to be legit), their ridiculousness is NOTHING compared to these 2. They are stalking the President – not once but TWICE. I don’t see the problem. BRAVO need to get it together and stop grooming these types of lunatics.
Who would have thought Andy Cohen had standards?
Absolutley Scarlette, on top of it they have proved there is no risk involved with their criminal activity. It will be an even bigger disgrace to let these 2 walk. It proves how F’ed up our justice system is. From Tiger Woods to celebrity wannabes, they all get a free pass b/c everyone is afraid of these people and the threat of potential lawsuits they use as a buffer.
has anyone really noticed how flat chested and schenky looking this whore really is
She needs a serious makeover. Especially her hair. I despise that straight, stringy crap hairstyle. She claims to have spent all day and mega $$$ in the salon the day of the State Dinner, but if that’s the best they could do, she needs to find another stylist!
It isn’t like these two crashed some celeb-infested birthday party or wedding reception…..this was the WHITE HOUSE, for crying out loud!!! They should both be prosecuted and jailed for their stupid actions!
Bravo TV if they want to be known for trailer trash TV sure go ahead and have the Salahi’s as the poster child of trailer trash.
They knew they were not invited; not only is it in poor taste but I am somewhat confident they got the absolute opposite effect of their infamous 15 minutes than they anticipated.
Friends of mine from Faquier County [yes, the one in Virginia?] have made it clear this is typical Salahi behavior — smarm, lies and deception.
Lacking class, etiquette and manners? sure show up on Bravo if that is of course what Bravo wants to be known for… I highly doubt Housewives would continue thru the next season.
What self-respecting Housewife would want to be in the same bucket as these bottom feeders?
YES AXE THEM
Can’t Wait for the DC Show!
Our group like the Salahi’s from what we have seen in pictures. It seems the media loves them too.
DC is going to be the BEST! Our office can’t wait! Gretchen is a favorite of ours – although our office is now a fan of “Team Michaele” for sure! That red dress was Beautiful!
