The New York Post is reporting that the biggest posers to ever hit reality television, Alex McCord and hubby Simon Van Kempen, might be getting the boot from their Bravo show – The Real Housewives of New York City.
According to the Post, the wife & hubby duo are not going to be asked back for a season four. Season Three, which is set to premier March 4, just wrapped up filming. They will be appearing on the 3rd season.
So why are Simon & Alex not being asked back? According to a source, “There are a ton of reasons they aren’t being asked back.”
The first being, “Viewers don’t have a positive reaction to them, so they’re easily replaceable at this point,” says the source. However, a Bravo rep insists that “no details have been released about next season” and Simon himself insists, “We have not had any discussions regarding a fourth season.”
“Also, they don’t really fit in with the other wives,” continues the source. “All of the other women’s story lines have interwoven, yet Alex and Simon have kept theirs separate. It isn’t nearly as interesting as the other Housewives’.”
And it doesn’t end there. According to the insider, there are even more reasons. Apparently Simon threw a “hissy fit” because he’s not being paid as much as the other cast members. “Simon wants to be an equal on the show, but that doesn’t really make any sense to Bravo,” the source says. “After all, he’s not a ‘Real Housewife,’ now is he?”
The Post also says the other ladies on the show including Bethenny Frankel, Jill Zarin, Ramona Singer, and Kelly Bensimon would like to see them go. “In the upcoming season, Alex picks a lot of fights, and it looks like it’s an attempt to keep her story line relevant,” the insider says. “But it ended up seeming inauthentic.”
So far no word yet on who will replace Alex & Simon, if they do end up leaving the show.

“It’s been known that one was meant to replace Bethenny, who’s getting her own show, but until now no one knew who the other housewife to go would be,” says our insider. “Now it looks like it’s Alex.”

They were super creepy and I will be glad to see them go!! Thier kids were kids were creepy. They were crazy about how brilliant the children were, super crazy about how fashionable they were and as long as they are attracted to eachother, the craziness is contained and won’t be spread.
They haven’t even shown Season 3 yet..Geeze.. I could be wrong, but I always thought that Bravo waits until one season airs to see how it goes, then decides if another season is going to be picked up and who will be on it.
I can’t stand them, they are so pretentious. Actually, I can’t stand the whole NY cast or the NJ cast.

I actually liked these two because unlike the others they actually seemed to own up to their pretentiousness. It’s all about networking with Alex and Simon, LOLS. The new season hasn’t aired a single episode yet so I’d like to reserve judgment until then. If Simon dares to dress up in another funky outfit like those red (or were they orange) leather pants I will be the first to call for him being booted off the show or made to do a guest spot on TLC’s WNTW! Now that would be entertaining! A fashion makeover for Simon! Bawwwahahhaa!
I don’t believe it. It really would not make sense for Bravo to boot them before they air the season and see how viewers respond to season 3. Also Alex and Simon don’t act like snobs as much as they were labeled snobs by the others. It seems Alex was the only one that could handle herself with grace without acting like they all had a questionable upbrining. The countess acts like a real snob.
Bad move Bravo!
IMO Si-Lex are a credit to hard working middle class people, because they continue to work hard in order to get the better things in life for themselves and their children and they are always respectful of each other and their acquaintances.
I personally think it is quite endearing, to know of two mature adults who’ve found true love with each other and then were able to start a young family together. Like most parents, they aspire to live a better life for the sake of themselves and their children’s future.
If taking into consideration, the highly competitive Manhattan social scene, can anyone really blame them?
Si-Lex also appear to be two genuinely well educated and intelligent people, who conduct themselves more in line with how I imagined ‘old money’ people would behave. That is to say, with quiet, understated elegance. OK, maybe Simon does dress a little flamboyant sometimes, but we’ve all heard it said, that clothes make the man.
Rather than the ‘nouveau riche’ loudmouth castmates, that include the trashy Ramona and her hubby, who think that it is appropriate to arrive 2 hrs. late for a dinner function, offer no apology to the hosts and then instigate an argument to further berate Simon; or the – ‘brand new second hand gal’ Jill, who luckily married a guy with money, or even the insufferable LuAnn, who feels it is beneath her to be introduced as anything less than ‘the Countess’ Bla-bla-bla; Alex and Simon are a breath of fresh air in the stifling and trifling Real Housewives of NYC scene.
My wife and I can only roll our eyes at the grammatical and social faux pas committed by the less intelligent, but more pretentious members, Kelly and Ramona. There should be no need for me to describe the sheer stupidity of Kelly jogging down the middle of the road in NYC traffic, or the mis-pronunciation by Ramona of ‘Ku-dos’ as “ku-dooz’. LOL.
Whatever Bravo does, we hope they don’t drop Bethany because she IS ‘real’, she IS witty and creative, she’s not afraid to call BS when she hears it and she looks good too!
I would much rather them stay and Kelly and Ramona go. Ramona and her husband are offensive and Kelly is fake. These people have a genuine love and relationship with their boys that is obvious. That makes them more likable to me. Kelly’s only relationship is with a camera. Alex and Simon are more authentic than people give them credit for. How many people would allow cameras in and out of their house when it was in disarray due to remodeling? They were criticized for that and they just took it rather than acting like a bunch of Housewives from Orange County.
I actually dont want them to leave the show. I think they can be truly embarrassing and are super wannabes, but I think that makes them at least entertaining. I could never stand how superior they feel to everyone else, especially regarding their absolutely brilliant children (who behave like absolute brats every time theyre in an episode!). But they were the castmates you love to hate. I think Ramona is almost more unbearable–ugh and the unwatchable Kelly Bensimon is the hard evidence of what happned when they got a new cast member (get rid of Alex and Simon, and who knows who they’ll bring in!?)
NOOOO…I like Alex and Simon a whole lot. On the last reunion show, Alex was the only lady to show any class or couth at all. She was very classy! Unlike, Jill and Bethenny. I WISH Bethenny would leave the show. I really dislike her, her attitude, her failed attempts at trying to be funny, and her constantly speaking negatively of others for no reason at all. Leave Alex and Simon on the show!!!
Good points all! Bravo would be foolish to kick these two off without taking into account what the viewers think rather than what a couple of narcissists OOPS I mean cast mates want. Second, Alex and Simon are on the show in part because they are so unique (okay … wacky, bizarre, even creepy) but who cares? At least they admit to social climbing unlike the other posers, LOL.
What you need to do, Reality Bites… is to send a link of your site to Bravo…if they have any good marketing sense at all…Bravo will have YOU and your merry cast of REAL people on TV soon!

For some reason I like them on the show. They just add a different twist to the others. Maybe it is Alex’s low key type of drama (compared to the hyper Ramona or Bethenny.) I hope they keep them. Yes, they are kind of weird and pretentious, but I think it makes things interesting.
I really like Simon and Alex. They are not mean. The other housewives and significant others are very immature, materialistic and just mean.
Simon and Alex can take a joke but dont seem to make them at others expense.
And I so love to hate kelly!

I really hope Alex and Simon do not come back for another season. They are so boring. She has no personality what so ever, when she speaks she sounds so dull. He, tries to sound like he’s a King or something with that Aussie accent. Both of them are wantabe’s. I laughed when we saw the dump they lived in, both inside and outside. How funny was it when you saw them relaxing after a hard day at work, in the kiddie pool in their ugly back yard. All patchy grass, they spend thousands on clothing to impress others, but not on their home. I live and entertain better and don’t consider myself filty rich. What phoneys, get rid of them.
In my opinion they add another aspect to life in NYC and will be missed. If the producers don’t see that now, they will when they leave. With them gone you have a bunch of women who are a mirror image of each other. If anyone is a waste of space it’s Kelly. . . she isn’t even a housewife. Plus, when she speaks she makes no sense. I realize none of this is real, however the players are placed in situations to make us believe it is… and I don’t believer her.

I really like Simon and Alex. During this season, it appears as if Jill wants to have them booted off the show, as Alex stood up to her and told her off. I think it is something we all would have loved to do, because Jill was so mean to Bethenny with her making her gravel and beg for forgiveness. Jill said that “Alex” was done, and has leaked inside info to the press in the past. It is her M.O. I think this leak from an insider came from Jill. I personally want Kelly and LuAnn to leave. They add nothing to the show. Kelly can’t speak in full sentences and LuAnn is always asking for an apology after she has been rude. This is called projection and it is very frustrating to watch. LuAnn is making Jill project under LuAnn’s influence and the fans are getting really mad at Jill. I hope she gets it before the fans want Jill to get the boot. Jill has aligned herself with the wrong crowd.
I actually love Simon and especially Alex! Yeah, they are pretentious and sometimes snobby but they are INTERESTING, well-educated people who I think are more relatable to the average american woman. Alex is kind of a nerd, but I think she is pretty (w/ a lot of makeup, etc) and has a “real” life and a good head on her shoulders even though she is verrrrrry socially awkward.
I cannot STAND Kelly, her “lemons into lemonade” comment on Ramona’s bachelorette party was cringe-worthy…there is nothing going on up there in that pretty little head of hers. I don’t really like luAnn, she has a boring storyline. I think Ramona is cute and entertaining to say the least..I think she adds a certain element to the show.
I love Sonja, she is so classy and genuinely sophisticated. She always keeps quiet when the bickering between Bethenny and Kelly starts- others should learn from her.
I am kind of on the fence with this one. In the beginning I could not take this couple at all but somehow they grew on me. I’m starting to think Kelly is the one that needs the boot. Lighten up kelly pls….oh by the way, I kind agree that (mature man) sounds like it could be simon.
I use to hate them both, now that they’ve tamed themselves a bit I like them – I hope they stay! If not, I hope they find success in another TV venture.
I hope Betheny leaves for good and she can take horny Sonja and that other new hag with her!
I agree that Kelly and Ramona are both bat-shit crazy – but that makes for good TV! Jill can be annoying and LuAnn is a bit full of herself, but they love to gossip and are pretty to look at – so please keep them too!
Oh no…I don’t think for a second TLC would actually dump this “over the top” duo. I like both, actually everyone on the cast. After all..if you have nothing nice to say, etc. They are loving, peaceful, conscientious and considerate. I hope everyone stays. Being followed by cameras all day isn’t exactly easy street. They earn their keep. Please, they will always land on their feet. I wish them the best!

Alex and simon looked really bad in season 1, but, are so much more down to earth now. Simon is funny to watch,,he needs to
come out of the closet tho.
Alex is so darn boring. Her voice and those faces make my skin crawl. She ramped it up this year in hopes of getting renewed. Such a sad attempt at being interesting. The husband make me change the channel. Where did Bravo find these outcasts, pretending to be wealthy society? Writing a parenting book? Kind of like Kelly writing a book on sanity.
And take Kelly too. Trying to act like she possesses a vocabulary. I thought she was just stupid but now I think she just needs a diagnosis. I dont believe one word she says. She’s nuts! Bethenny is the one who should be scared.

After watching this season, I say I’m not going to be sorry to see either one of them leave. The camera time that Alex did get was as the expense of other. Alex picked fights randomly and Jill was her only target I found that rather odd at the time, but it makes perfect sense now. I say Bravo Boot their asses.
I think Alex and Simon should stay!!!!!!!!!!! they really didn’t have a story line in Season 3 but Season 4 should be about the book tour and Alex-Simon trying to find work! As well as them visiting Bethenny then have them evolve into Bethenny’s Show as the couple that visitis Bethenny… Also, Alex could also be a Business associate of Ramona’s helping her market everything that she has going on.. So they actually do intertwine with the ladies.. Also, Sonya is probably going to need help in marketing herself which Alex could help out as well.. As far as drama.. If you keep Jill there will be plenty of drama.. Cause we all know how Jill feels about the new realtionship that has evolved between Alex, Ramona & sonya,.

She just IS NOT an outspoken person, You can tell how uncomfortable she is by confronting people just by the way she breaks out in hives. She is trying to be ” Outspoken ” now just because she was getting boring and she needed to change her personality to stay on the show.

I had to laugh when the Countess said that Alex found her voice but now she doesn’t know how to shut up because I was thinking the exact same thing! I also want to know when Simon is going to fess up and come out of the closet already!!

Alex does seem very inauthentic..as if the only way you can noticed on a reality series is by being a bitch..she’s not good at it, it doesn’t suit who she really is, and it seems like everything else…pretend…like her marraige to Simon….come out of the closet all ready!!!! Pleaee…now that would be worth watching.
I just started watching the show at the end of last season and am now catching up on 2009…but I seem to be the only one that actually LIKES Alex. Anyone else feel that way?
To Bravo producers, if Alex & Simon do not do season 4 I won”t be tuning in, I love them & also I heard Romona might get dumped kelly & Jill as well, why they are Housewives of New York & it”s all the cast that we enjoy!

Sir Alex and Queen Simon need to go ! I can’t stand Alex’s fake facial expressions and Simon wants to become a housewife. He shouldn’t have quit his day job. He is rating right up there with Slade Smiley in wanting to be in the show.
Alex’s laugh akone is creepy and the way she opens her mouth with those big teeth when they show her dancing reminds me of a vampire. Irefer to them as the “Munsters”, Herman and Lilly that is.
