In an all new interview, Bethenny Frankel, star of Bethenny Getting Married reveals her mother has yet to meet her daughter Bryn Hoppy.
“My mother hasn’t expressed any interest in meeting Bryn, which was shocking to my husband,” says Bethenny to Parade. “Life is hopefully long, so I don’t know what the future will bring. Right now, I would say no. I only want positive energy around her for as long as possible. Life will be difficult enough before she knows it.”
This comes just days after Bethenny’s cover story with PEOPLE magazine during which she opened up about her childhood abuse. “I never had a true childhood,” she tells People. “There was a lot of destruction: alcohol abuse, eating disorders and violent fights.”
Bethenny’s father is the now deceased highly known horse trainer Bobby Frankel. According to Bethenny, Bobby walked out on she and her mother, Bernadette Birk, when she was just 4 years old. Bethenny’s mom re-married another horse trainer named John Parisella when Bethenny was 5, which led to them moving homes seven times in over 10 years. Bethenny says her father cut her off when Bernadette accused him of keeping money from them. She also says her father seemed to resent her and punish her for the actions of her mother.
Things then got hostile with Bernadette and her new husband John. “The house would be in shambles,” Bethenny says of her mom’s vicious outbursts in which she would smash “dishes, pictures, the TV — anything she could see” and physically fight with John. Bethenny says she would either have to hide in her closet or call the police to break things up.
Bethenny also sheds light on her troubles with her weight and drugs during her teen years. She began starving herself and purging at the age of 13. “I was owned by dieting,” she says. “I hated myself.” Her situation worsened when she began clubbing in her teens, drinking heavily and even doing cocaine.
As for Bethenny’s relationship with her mother today, she says the two have barely spoken in the past 10 years. Bethenny however makes it clear she is over the past and is now in a better place with her husband and daughter. “I just want to give her the life I didn’t have,” says Bethenny of baby Bryn.

Bitchenny knows she’s not well liked. I don’t know if she’s using this as an excuse for her big mouth, or for sympathy or for kudos for all of the voiceless adults who are estranged from their parents, but talking smack about your family to the press is never a good career move.
Meg Ryan cut off her mother because her parents divorced her senior year in high school. Her mother hada job as a casting agent in NYC, so her mom moved there. Peggy, (her real name) stayed living w/ her dad in the family house in the suburbs. Meg never forgave her mother for it even though she was instrumental in getting her acting career started w/a role on a soap opera. Years later, after trashing her mom several times in interviews, she cheated on Dennis Quaid w/ that dirtbag Russell Crowe. Then Crowe dumped her ass. Her career was never the same after that. She got what she deserved IMO.
Ppl defending Beth don’t get it that this is a one-sided story.
It is not fair that we don’t get to hear from her mother — how do we know all that stuff b is spewing did happen?
Unless her father wrote an autobiography that will be released soon, we don’t have his side of the story.

Bethenny is whining about her past now, to get sympathy in order to sell books.
This may be great cleansing material, but we’ve gotten to know her over the past 3 years and some of us see right through her. All you have to do is watch seasons 1-3 of the RH-NY shows to get the full picture.
Bethenny is too proud to forgive … look how she behaved throughout season3 of the RH-NY with Jill. You would have thought that Jill had killed her dog or one of B’s relatives, with Bethenney’s arrogant, mean, and holier-than-thou attitude.
B’s fame has certainly gone to her head. Now she feels empowered to throw her parents under the bus simply b/c she reached a certain status???
This is a woman who has trashed and continues to trash her castmates simply out of jealousy and envy.
You know very well as soon as her self-pity book hits the bookshelves, she will be making the rounds to Oprah, Dr. Phil, KathyLee-n-Hoda, and anyone else who will listen.

She’s being interviewed because people want to know about her including her childhood which came to light partly because she’s going to therapy on her show to try to work through things. We are products of our parents disfunctions. Apparently people know that because of all the reaction.
Oh – she’s a bitch for saying bad things about her parents and looking for sympathy but by the way my childhood was worst.
The last thing I’ve seen was Bethenny trying to look for sympathy. It is what it is and there’s nothing wrong with being honest. The first step in dealing with our own disfunctions is understanding what has made us the way we are and more often than not it is directly related to the families we were raised in.

Bethenny knows she has fans and well as detractors. She understands and accepts that it goes with the territory. However, Bravo wouldn’t have given her own show if she wasn’t more liked than hated. That is just a fact. You somehow live in this alternate universe where unpopular TV personalities are given their own shows.
And your comparisons are laughable. Meg Ryan, seriously? You’re comparing what was once an A-List international movie star to a basic cable reality TV personality? There are many reasons why Meg Ryan’s career hit the skids but none of them involve her estranged relationship with her mother.
I’m sure Bethenny did have a rough childhood – but we only know her side. Too bad we can’t get her Mother’s side. Its one thing if the Mother had been part of the show … but she never was, so I’ll have to reserve at least 50% of my opinion because no one has heard the other side of the story.

Wow, Bitchenny’s unpaid interns must be working overtime. Most people, including celebrities, want to keep their private lives private. With the exception of a few former child stars who’s careers have completely fizzled, I can’t think of many celebrities who want to dig up their unpleasant childhood memories in order for their fans to understand them better or get publicity. They’re just not that desperate.
If the Costco book signing is ANY indication, the B has few fans. She couldn’t even give those books away. It doesn’t mean Bravo, home of the Salihi’s, won’t give her a show. She’s controversial, which is all that counts. They gave that anorexic photographer couple a show, and they’re nobodies.
Sugarhill, you’re missing the point. My point was Meg Ryan did the same thing she hated her mother for, only she took it a step further and cheated on and left her husband for another man. Meg’s parents probably stayed together for as long as they could for her sake, but she was still unforgiving – kind of like you know who. I’m glad you found it so funny though.

You continue to make stupid analogies. You’re equating movie stars, child stars (that presumably were either in movies or on TV) to reality TV celebrities that put their personal lives on TV for entertainment. They are different mediums, animals, etc. Reality TV like RHONY is dependent on people not keeping things private or else there would be no show.
The Costco signing is one event out of many. In mathematical terms it would be defined as an outlier. And if Bethenny was as horrible as you claim her to be then she would’ve stormed out of the event like Jill did when she didn’t get seated in the front row of that fashion show.
Her books, plural, have been on the NY Times bestseller list. Obviously, she has enough fans for that to happen. Bravo may launch many shows, but not all of them are as succesful as hers. And she is the only housewife with the distinction of getting her own show.
I am missing your point about Meg Ryan because your correlation makes no sense. Bethenny doesn’t have a relationship with her mother because she was a shitty parent not because she got a divorce. What exactly has Bethenny done to her daughter that mirrors what her mother did to her? Bethenny’s mother has to ask for forgiveness before she is expected to be forgiven. Beth was added to the cast of NY due to her connections which she admitted. The story is that she was never poor as she claimed, and she was been primped for her own show the entire time. People are only interested in Beth, because she’s not known for her healthy cooking, just like lately Wonder Mom Kate is getting lucrative solo jobs that have nothing to do with parenting.

After watching Bravo since season one, it’s pretty clear that Bethenny likes to accuse people of negative qualities that she, in fact, possesses herself. It’s called projection — and she’s a master of it.
She admits that she’s a “ballbuster” and “likes to take the snarky route”. In reality it’s verbal aggression. She verbally abuses people and defames them shamelessly, packaging these attacks with jokes and a Sex in the City image.
She waits until her father is dead and then defames him publicly. She goes to People Magazine to tell millions of people in the world that her mother was abusive.
But one thing is for sure — we now know that Bethenny is an abusive and toxic daughter.
Why not just call your Mom, Bethenny, and talk it out with her? Shame on you.

First of all, Beth always said her mother was all about the money and material things in life. Her Mother apparently married again and now just sold her story to the STAR Magazine.
Some people never learned how to love. So either one has to say,” I didn’t like my Mom, and I’m never going to be like her” or they can’t change. This could be Beth’s Mom. She couldn’t change because no one showed her love and the circle repeated itself.
Bethenny will be a great Mom and Jason a great Dad. Jason’s parents are also terrific and also have a sense of humor. Remember at the wedding the father and Jason had each shown their hands were shaking? Well, his mother said, “The Xanax really helped!” I laughed and so did Jason’s Mom.
As for Bernadette via Bonnie….she is definitely going about this in a wrong way. She should SHUT her mouth and not sell

We only know Bethenny’s side of the story. I like Bethenny fine, but she is one who holds grudges forever, and is the most unforgiving of all the housewives, IMO.

Wow. I think there’s something funny about calling a woman you’ve never met, and only watched (edited) and read about, a “liar.” Doing so means that you OBVIOUSLY know the truth, in which case, spill it! But what I do know of Bethenny’s mother came from an interview for Star magazine late last month. In that interview, she did say that there was “discord” (http://www.starmagazine.com/news/17094?comment_page=2). Perhaps that’s why she has yet to really do any sort of “tell all” interview, because what could she say? “Discord” seems to be a code word that could very well parallel what Bethenny means when she describes her childhood as volatile.
Bethenny is one nasty ugly (in and out) person. I used to be a fan; not anymore. She is plain nasty.
Bethenny is a liar and such a douchbag. She is always feeling sorry for herself. And most her fans are herself and her assistants posting here with multiple names.

What’s next with her? Postpartum depression, childhood sexual abuse, it could be almost anything just to stay in the public eye.
The post in which the author claims fans have no right (sic) to view B as anything other than the carefully crafted, perfect being who’s overcome so much as she continued to persist and evolve towards becoming a better person is what she & Bravo’s editing wanted us to see in her. Those who’ve seen all 3 seasons of her in RHW-NYC have seen the changes in her, and how during that time how her clai to fame was essentially her expertise at being on reality shows, although I belive it had only been 1 at that point. Many seem to have forgotten that she was not married, was not a housewive and certainly seemed to be dispensing much advice to her then friend and gateway to the exclusive NYC social scene, Jill. Hmmm….Yet in season 3 Jill was the on B slayed, all the while using others to do the public dirty work for her. To buy into loving or hating her to the point of raging blog wars about it all, based soley on TV show is absurd. What is not absurd is wondering why nobody has raised the question of whether some of her own private weight loss regime includes some of the many, many unhealthy methods still used by jockeys.
Her now deceased biological father remains one of only two men in US TB racing to have ever passed an incredible $200M LTE (lifetime earnings.) That, and having no talent with horses and riding, may have more to do with her public denouncing of both biological parents, which in my heart of hearts I do believe she uses exclusively to gain the sympathy vote. Many people have had childhoods that were far left of being a Norman Rockwell painting yet they rallied and made something of themelves without needing to crush their families. Funny at first, now that the curtain’s been drawn back there’s not much see except B borrowing the Wizard’s chair. Cue the Flying Monkeys.
Puhp, stop telling your lies about Meg Ryan and her mother. First of all Meg’s parents divorce has nothing to do with their estrangement. Meg’s mother talking to the media in exchange for money has everything to do with this. Meg never badmouthed her mother in the media, Meg’s mother PRETENDED that she did.
The fact that Meg’s two younger siblings are no longer in contact with their mother (meg’s mom) either should tell you enough (though Meg’s mom lies about that to the media, too)
And to conclude this post: Meg Ryan was cheated on for many years by ex husband Dennis Quaid. Only after she kicked him out did she hook up with Russell Crowe. And she did not at any point leave her kids, as her own mother did. She has always been the main caretaker for her now adult son and still young daughter.

i saw the real bethany up close this weekend. at her skinnygirl party, she was having pics with all kinds of people – when i went up to her and asked for a pic, she called her bodyguard. I was shocked, humiliated and dumbfounded. its ok to have pics with men, but no women please – in case she’s not the absolute center of attention. she sucks.
