Real Housewives of DC Husband Regrets Doing The Show, Cat Speaks On Her Portrayal

According to Bravo’s schedule, there will be no new episode of the Real Housewives of DC airing tonight, there is however news to report on the show.

The NYTimes published a story this week about Charles Ommanney, now estranged husband of Cat Ommanney. Charles, a White House photographer who has been featured on the show this season, apparently regrets doing the reality show.

In the piece by the NYTimes, Charles, who is described as a private guy, expresses his regret in appearing on the show which he says has now overshadowed his previous accomplishments, refers to Cat as his ex-wife, and says he doesn’t watch the show because watching his old life play out on television is simply “too painful.”

“I haven’t seen it, but I’ve seen the previews and I made a promise to myself to not sit and watch my ex-wife,” said Charles who is described as sounding miserable. “It’s just too painful. I’ve got eight more weeks of hundreds of Facebook requests from people I don’t know. I’d almost like to go and live in Katmandu. I have very few regrets in my life, but this is the one.”

Cat is described as a summer fling of Charles’s from 1989 who got back in touch with him in 2008 after two children and an infamous kiss with Prince Harry, a story she reportedly sold to the UK tabloids. The two have two marriages between them.

After five months of dating, Catherine followed Charles to Washington DC with her two children in tow. About a year later, Cat began filming for the Bravo reality show while Charles had become a father to her girls.

The NYTimes reports the two separated shortly after the show taping wrapped up in November, following less than 2 years of marriage. Cat’s book is reportedly on hold as she plans on moving from London back to Washington in the coming week. Cat’s children will remain in England due to the custody agreement Cat has with their father.

As for Charles, he reportedly fled the city. “Primarily I was embarrassed,” he told the mag. “Secondly, people didn’t want anything to do with it. People were like: ‘Are there going to be cameras there? I don’t want dinner. Are there people from Bravo filming it? Are you miked?’ ”

Charles adds that he ultimately did the show to make his wife happy. “But, at the end of the day, it was innocent. I wanted happiness for someone I was in love with. I put all my reservations aside and said: ‘Go for it. Do it if it makes you happy.’ Then I regretted it. I lost touch with everyone, and mix that with my marriage falling apart and the show taking over, it was very sad.”

Cat, who is shown as being very rude and obnoxious on the show, showed her human side, when she told the mag, “Every time I see Charles, especially last week, when he comes and surprises me on a photo shoot, and the look of love for him I have, and the admiration I had and in some way still have — it’s painful.”

Cat also shares she is doing some soul searching after watching her portrayal on television. “The fact that I am set up to be the villain, I could probably have lived with if I was still in my life with my husband and family,” she said. “But having all that gone has been incredibly challenging, and I’ve had to do a lot of soul searching about how we’ve got to this point.”
