It seems Bethenny Frankel is now starting to experience the pitfalls of fame, as she is now referring to the paparazzi as ‘disgusting rats’ days after bikini photos of her in Miami Beach hit the net.
“You don’t understand, I’ve never had that experience before where I couldn’t go to the beach,” said Bethenny to USA TODAY while chatting about her new show Bethenny Ever After.
“I went out to the beach and these photographers were on top of my chair. The beach guys were bringing us umbrellas and shoving us in. I’ve never seen it like that. They were like rats. It was disgusting,” explains Bethenny, 40. “They were begging, ‘Please let us have a picture of the baby.’ I was like, get away from me.”
Bethenny adds that the fact that she had her baby with her was what made the whole experience difficult. “I was so upset. I came back, I was like on house arrest in my building. I don’t care if it was me five years ago, being single and hot in a bikini — then I’d be like ‘Hey, woohoo!” But with the baby it felt really gross.”
In other Bethenny news, the second season of her Bravo spin-off show Bethenny Ever After premiered on Monday night and the ratings proved to be so-so.
With 1.5 million viewers tuning in to BEA, the ratings were down 28% from the 2.2 million viewers who watched the season 1 premiere. And down 21% from the 1.9 million viewers the show averaged last season. Only time will tell if the ratings remain steady or continue to slip.
