New Real Housewives Of Orange County Star Katie Hamilton Divorcing MLB Player Husband Josh Hamilton!

Katie Hamilton & Josh Hamilton Divorce - RHOC season 10

Real Housewives Of Orange County will premiere on Bravo June 10th, but there’s already major drama about whether or not new cast member Katie Hamilton will even appear this season! And with word that her MLB husband Josh Hamilton filed for divorce 2 months ago, things are getting even trickier!

Katie, together with Meghan Edmonds, are the new ladies slated to join RHOC for season 10, both boasting an impressive MLB marriages. Unfortunately, Katie’s soon-to-be-ex-husband Josh, an Anaheim Angels outfielder who has a long history of substance abuse issues, suffered a relapse during filming, reportedly over marital problems and the intrusion of reality TV cameras. This prompted rumors that Katie had pulled out of the show to focus on family issues and avoid having the drama play-out for Bravo cameras.

Now comes another blow – weeks before Bravo is due to announce the new season, and introduce the cast members, it’s been revealed that Josh filed for divorce from Katie. Josh and Katie married in 2004 and have 4 daughters together, aged 3 – 14.

Josh filed divorce papers in Tarrant County, TX this February, just after he had a cocaine relapse. Josh was recovering from a shoulder injury in Houston, not at home with Katie, but according to sources an argument with his wife, who was in the midst of filming RHOC, sent him on a bender. That bender led him to confess to the MLB board members that he had compromised his sobriety, although he did not suffer any punitive consequences from the league.

Katie never commented publicly on Josh’s issue or her decision to go forward with RHOC, but she has been keeping up a positive front on instagram.

The Dallas Morning News reveals that the divorce papers Josh filed cite “conflict” as the reason for their split.  Josh also outlined some requests for their separation: Katie is prohibited from driving the Maserati and 1972 Chevrolet Blazer; prohibited from “hiding” their children from him; and is banned from “making disparaging remarks against him or his family.” But here’s the really odd provision: Josh “prohibits someone who has an intimate relationship with her [Katie] from staying in the same home as the children overnight.”

Even odder, Katie contested Josh’s divorce filing in March by submitting a “general denial.” Whatever is going on, Katie recently shared photos on instagram of her children celebrating a birthday with Josh’s parents and there did not appear to be any strife.

Despite Katie’s contest, the divorce appears to be proceeding. This month Katie and Josh agreed not to communicate with each other until things have resolved and filed a temporary mutual injunction “outlining dozens of rules about expenses, interactions with each other and their children.” Josh must have supervised visitation with his children and he is banned from visiting the couple’s 3 properties in Westlake, Texas; Newport Coast, Calif.; and Valley Mills, Texas.

On Friday, the couple’s $16.5 million dollar, 10,850-square-foot home (in Heather Dubrow‘s Newport Coast neighborhood) went up for sale reports the OC Register

Josh is still in the middle of a 5-year contract with the Angels, with 3-years and an $83 million dollar balance remaining. The LATimes reports that team owners are looking into possible trades or a buyout of Josh’s contract, although Josh met with teammates this week who declare him in great shape, positive spirits and ready to play.

It’s unknown if Josh and Katie have a prenup.
