2015 American Idol XIV Grand Finale

I have a confession. I love American Idol. In 13 years, I haven’t ever missed an episode, and it’s one of the few shows I watch the night it airs. Not live, mind you, because I need the power to fast forward. I constantly try to fast forward the commercials if I watch a show live. The struggle is real.

On Wednesday, I was pleasantly surprised when Nick Fradiani was named the winner of American Idol 14. Quentin Alexander was my favorite contestant this season. After he was eliminated, I was rooting for Nick, but I thought Clark Beckham had it in the bag.

“Everybody was saying I was kind of the underdog, and I think that’s true,” said Nick. He added that expected Clark or Jax to win. “Nobody had me pegged as the winner. I wasn’t doing anything that was really impressing people. Then something clicked the last six weeks or so. I got hot at the right time.” Check out pictures from the Season 14 finale of American Idol below.

American Idol will end after Season 15. “It has had a hell of a run,” said Nick. “There will never be another American Idol, which produced so many credible superstars over the years. It was a phenomenon in pop culture, and it changed music.”
