When Karen Huger brought up her conversation with Gizelle Bryant in front of the entire Real Housewives of Potomac cast, it seemed like a textbook case of reality show pot stirring. I’m sure that Karen justifies it as “getting everything out in the open” and some sort of vague sentiment about being a “peacemaker,” but it was shady.
The conversation between Robyn and Karen did make the episode so Gizelle Bryant and Charrisse Jackson-Jordan were going to see it anyway and I understand that it was necessary to push the plot forward on a reality show that could use some excitement, but I’m sure that Robyn could have done without it.

Before getting into Karen’s shit stirring, Robyn talked about her first impression of new cast member Monique Samuels in her Bravo blog entry. Robyn recalled, “Overall I enjoyed the class and enjoyed getting to know Monique. She was definitely very long-winded that day and enjoyed talking about herself and all that she has and does but I don’t think she has any bad intentions. She just needs to figure out how to cut her soliloquies short when people begin to nod off!” Sure, Monique talks a lot, but at least she isn’t fronting about things she doesn’t actually have- unlike some of the other women in the cast.
And then she got to the good stuff. Robyn wrote, “When Karen invited me to her house to try to bring resolution to the Charrisse and Gizelle situation, I immediately thought twice about it because I didn’t think Karen needed to insert herself into their business anyway. But I still went because I believed she was coming from a good place and really wanted to see the ladies make up.” I never thought that Karen had honorable intentions in that situation. It just seemed like some classic deflection and an excuse to get some camera time.
Still, it wasn’t like Robyn was back stabbing Gizelle. She explained, “I was honest and open with Karen about what I thought about the situation. On top of that, EVERYTHING I said to Karen had already been said to Gizelle. In no way did I think I was walking into a complete setup!” It definitely seemed like a setup to me.
Karen bringing up the conversation at that ridiculous high tea with everyone from the cast present solidified my opinion that the whole thing was very calculated on Karen’s part. Robyn revealed, “My immediate reaction when Karen brought up our conversation at high tea was ‘Oh, hell no, this woman is straight throwing me under the bus!'” Well, yeah welcome to the Real Housewives, Karen. That is how things usually go down in this franchise.
Robyn continued, “There was absolutely no reason for Karen to bring up what we discussed and spin it as if I was betraying my friends. I’m grown and mature enough to have my own opinion and to give my friends honest feedback on things that they do and say.” Exactly. Karen was just being messy and trying to instigate drama.
Robyn shaded Karen: “Seemingly, Karen does not understand this concept, despite her mature age. Karen just looked like a messy drama starter who needs attention.” 100%.
