Some seasons, like this one, the only reason I turn on the premiere is to see my favorite pros dance. Luckily I always find a star or two to root for along the way. But my interest fades a little bit each time one of the pros I like to watch – Anna Trebunskaya, Tristan MacManus, Chelsie Hightower, Kym Johnson, and Maks come to mind – leaves the show.
Thursday’s new cast reveal did not impress me, but I will tune in to cheer on my favorite pro dancers. When did the pros become a bigger draw than the stars?! That said, I remember not knowing much about Emmitt Smith, Gilles Marini, Donald Driver, and Zendaya beyond their profession, but I grew to love each of them on their season. So I hope the same happens this time around.
Below are photos of the stars – Antonio Sabato Jr, Betsey Johnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Janel Parrish, Lolo Jones, Tommy Chong, Bethany Mota, Randy Couture, Michael Waltrip, Sadie Robertson, Tavis Smiley, Lea Thompson, and Jonathan Bennett – with their pro partners. This coming Monday brings us the Bachelor in Paradise finale – who’s watching that hot mess?!? – then the new season of Dancing with the Stars kicks off Monday, September 15.
Most of the rumors were true. Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson will dance. When asked how her family reacted to the news, Sadie said, “They thought it was hilarious. We don’t really have that much dancing experience in the family, but it’s going to be really funny to see them all at the show.”
But a few of the rumors missed the mark. Bachelorette star Andi Dorfman did not make the cut. I’m not sad about it. Oh, you know who else is missing? THE STARS. Seriously, if I have to Google more than half of the cast, they are not stars. <sigh> Check out the complete list below and let us know what you think.
Unsurprisingly, Bachelorette star Andi Dorfman is rumored to be dancing. A few sources even claimed that her chosen one, Josh Murray, will compete too. That’s never been done before and ABC is normally dreadfully predictable, so I fully expect to see Josh seated in the audience only.
People magazine is reporting Antonio, 37, stepped out with his new girlfriend, singer-songwriter Cheryl Moana Marie, on Sunday at the Hollywood Christmas Parade, introducing her as “my girlfriend.” The photo of the couple from that night is above.
According to a source, shortly after Sabato’s show wrapped, he and the Hawaiian-born singer began to date. “They are so solid, so happy together,” the source says.
Brooke Barlow, who won Antonio’s heart on My Antonio, said back in October that the two gave their relationship a try, but ended up breaking up after a few months of dating.
The season finale of My Antonio aired last night with Brooke Barlow coming up victorious. The 30 year old nurse from Mississippi won the heart of Antonio Sabato Jr.
In a new interview with VH1, Brooke opens up about the current state of her relationship with Antonio. According to Brooke, she hasn’t spoken to Antonio in 2 – 3 months, and they are no longer together. She opens up about her thoughts on Yvonne, and why she wanted Antonio to sign that contract.
Excerpts from her interview below –
Well, thank you. That’s really, really nice to hear. No one’s been able to tell me that yet.
Where is your relationship with Antonio at this moment?
I’m just going to be honest with you: I am not in touch with Antonio. We haven’t spoken in probably two, three months.
The show was shot when?
In January. We couldn’t really court, because we weren’t allowed to be seen in public, so it’s very difficult to try to have a relationship behind closed doors. We had just met and we tried to pull it off. We saw each other for probably a couple of months after the show was filmed, and then we just decided it was best to see other people, and I haven’t heard from him since.
You did give it a try though?
Oh yeah. We put effort into it. I met his children. We would go hiking on the weekends in his back yard in the woods. We saw each other on the weekends, being very careful not to let anyone else see us. If he had any sort of job interview in L.A., he would stop by and visit me in my home. He’s adorable. We had a great time — as good of a time as you could have indoors with no outside contact. It was really nice getting to know him and his children.
Tully Jensen‘s exit fromMy Antoniowas probably one of the most emotional ones ever seen on reality television. Most viewers found themselves rooting for Tully by the time she got to the final 3.
In a new interview with VH1, Tully discusses her emotional exit, getting over Antonio again, being betrayed by Christiand why she never wants to be like Antonio’s mother, Yvonne.
Excerpts from Tully’s interview is below –
How have you been emotionally since shooting the show?
After coming home, going through a three-month recuperation for my injury took my mind off things a little bit. But then watching the show brought up every single emotion that I had during the experience. The final show was like ripping a scab off the wound.
What did you think of Antonio’s reasoning for letting you go: you make him feel like a kid, but he’s no longer a kid?
I don’t think of him as a kid. I felt like he was running again. I felt like he was running away from his emotions.
What do you think about his final two of Brooke and Miranda?
I love Miranda. I like Brooke. But no. Neither one of them is right for Antonio. His lifestyle is different from what they think. They look at him like fans, or they wonder what he can to for them, in one girl’s case. Antonio isn’t a partier. His kids come first. He needs someone who will completely accept the fact that he’s got an entire family that’s involved in his life. He’s not going to be out dancing or clubbing or drinking. He’s very quiet, and if they don’t like home life and just want the glitz and glamor, they’re going to be disappointed.
