The Real Housewives of Atlanta - Season 5

Is the Kardashian reality TV dynasty failing? Sunday night was the premiere of the long awaited and heavily promoted Kourtney & Kim Take Miami

The Kardashians signed a $40 million dollar deal with E! last year to unveil a slew of reality shows over the next three years. Part of the deal included spinoffs from Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Another part of the deal included increasing their shows from 30 minutes long to one hour.

Unfortunately ever since they nailed the massive contract – and despite tons of publicity surrounding their personal lives – ratings have been consistently stagnating. The season finale for season 7 of KKUWTK which aired in September and culminated with the birth of Kourtney Kardashian's daughter Penelope was the highest-rated episode of the season with a rating of 3.6M total viewers.

The Shahs of Sunset cast (Reza Farahan, Mercedes Javid, Lilly Ghalichi, Mike Shouhed, Asa Soltan Rahmati and Golnesa GG Gharachedaghi) has 2.3 million reasons to smile today!  The numbers are in from the season 2 premiere on Sunday night and the show blew the doors off their previous record, which was the season 1 finale.  2.3 million viewers tuned in on Sunday night – an increase of 106%!

Asa can breathe a sigh of relief  – she won't have to dig up the gold coins in her floor now to replenish her checking account.

In other Shahs news, model Niki Ghazian has fired off a strongly worded letter to Bravo, requesting that they stop referring to newcomer Lilly Ghalichi as "Persian Barbie".  Niki claims that the name belongs to her and she wants Bravo to remove any promos that use the nickname in reference to Lilly.

If you were hoping the Kardashians would fade into obscurity following a year of famewhore antics gone wrong, think again! They’re back and apparently as big as ever. According to the ratings, the Sunday night season premiere of Keeping Up With The Kardashians hauled in an impressive number of viewers.

Nearly 3 million (yes, I said million, not hundred) people tuned in to catch a glimpse of Kimmie Kake‘s butt, Khloe Kardashian‘s paternity drama, and a Kanye West sighting. I personally watch for Bruce Jenner‘s mutated face. I keep hoping and hoping to see some semblance of normalcy return to the rubber mask that has eclipsed his head.

Most shocking, the ratings for KUWTK are up 16% since last season’s premiere. And surprisingly the show did really well in the coveted 18-49 year-old-demographic, with 1.5M women making up the viewership last Sunday according to The Hollywood Reporter. I thought you people were boycotting?!
