I had no idea what to make of it during the last Real Housewives of Orange County episode when Shannon Beador had a feng shui consultant come to her new home. I’m not gonna lie, I checked out immediately when the woman described her sink as “female” and the stove as “male.” That wasn’t the only mention of feng shui during the episode though.
Shannon’s former friend Vicki Gunvalsondissed the concept even though she was all for it while she and Shannon were still cool. As expected, Shannon isn’t going to let that go and she’s calling her out.
Even though no one was asking for it, Lydia McLaughlin is back on Real Housewives of Orange County. After having no story line her first time around, other than calling out Slade Smiley for skinny shaming her, Lydia is really doing the most to be relevant this season. Even though she did not keep in touch with any cast members when she left the show and she didn’t watch it, she thinks that she is an authority on the cast dynamic.
Lydia would not stop talking about Vicki Gunvalson when she first met Shannon Beador at Tamra Judge’sgranddaughter’s birthday party- which clearly irritated them both. She hasn’t even interacted with Meghan Edmonds at this point in the season, but Meghan, Shannon, and Tamra all shared their opinions on Lydia’s behavior during the second episode of the season. Spoiler alert: they all think she’s a shit stirrer.
The last Real Housewives of Orange County episode was very Lydia-focused. With that said, it wasn’t the most exciting episode, even with Lydia McLaughlin’s conflict with Shannon Beadorat Tamra Judge’s granddaughter’s birthday party. Lydia inserted herself in Shannon’s business within minutes of meeting her and Shannon truly went off the rails. It wasn’t a good look for either of them.
During the season premiere, Lydia said that she is the “Friendship Whisperer” and it really does seem like her heart is in the right place when it comes to uniting Vicki Gunvalson with Tamra and Shannon, but she just really overstepped her boundaries. She just returned to the show, she obviously didn’t keep in touch with Tamra and Vicki, and on top of that she just met Shannon. Talking to Shannon about her known enemy isn’t the most effective strategy to befriend her. Now Lydia is explaining herself and where she was coming from during that birthday party debacle.
Then again, they are all contractually obligated to the same reality TV show and they have to be in the same room at some point so it’s an unrealistic notion and here we are: watching this mudslinging, shade throwing, and secret revealing drama.
When Tamra Judge is the person in a scene with the most social tact, you know there is something going terribly awry. I’m looking at you Lydia McLaughlin and Shannon Beador, for the pot stirring and screaming, respectively. As per usual the topic at hand was Vicki Gunvalson and unfortunately it all went down at a toddler’s birthday party.
It’s completely understandable why Shannon would hate Vicki. There’s the whole fake cancer thing. In the midst of that, Vicki talked about Shannon’s husband’s affair before anyone else on the show knew about it. And then Vicki accused David Beador of abusing Shannon. So obviously Shannon doesn’t want to be friends with Vicki, but she has to interact with her and talk about her since they’re both on the same show.
Tamra claims she thought Lydia and Shannon would get along great, though. That is, before Lydia mentioned Shannon had some similarities in the pettiness department with Vicki. Before she breaks down the drama that happened at her granddaughter, Ava’s, first birthday party, Tamra previews that “I officially meet Peggy [Sulahain] next Monday. You DO NOT want to miss it!”
I don’t know what to make out of Peggy Sulahian based on her first Real Housewives of Orange Countyepisode. First off, introducing her as a “friend of Lydia McLaughlin’s” was a total stretch since they met on camera. It very rarely works when the new girl doesn’t have a preexisting relationship in the cast. Then, she opened up about her double mastectomy which was brave and informative. But she topped it all off talking about her cars and getting lavish gifts from her husband.
She gave us a lot to work with, but it is so tough to piece it all together. Thankfully that was only episode two so there’s plenty of time to figure out if we like Peggy.
