NBA star Shaquille O’Neal is trying to stop the airing of VH1’s new hit show – Basketball Wives according to TMZ.

The overly sensitive Shaq reportedly believes his ex-wife Shaunie O’Neal might be bashing him on future episodes, and had his lawyers fire off a letter to VH1 demanding they “immediately halt production on “any further episodes of ‘Basketball Wives’ which make any reference to Mr. O’Neal.”

Shaq’s lawyer is claiming Shaunie signed a confidentiality agreement at some point in their relationship therefore preventing her from saying anything about Shaq on TV. VH1 has however confirmed the show will go on. The new episode will still air tonight at the scheduled time of 10/9c.

Coming of the heels of a rather impressive debut of Basketball Wives, VH1 announced this week that it will be creating a new spin off series called Football Wives. Similar to Basketball Wives, Football Wives will also offer viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the glamorous life of the better halves of professional football’s most elite players.

“Football and basketball are really two very different worlds,” Jeff Olde, executive vice president of original programming and production at VH1, said Wednesday. “In football, there are no guaranteed contracts, so you could be in your heyday one day and out completely the next.”

“The players are also on the road much less than basketball players,” added Olde, “so the family dynamic and work schedule is totally different from the women’s perspective.”
