Big Brother’s Matt Hoffman Speaks Out: 'I Regret Throwing Ragan Under The Bus'

Matt Hoffman of Big Brother

Self proclaimed diabolical genius Matt Hoffman found himself the latest house guest to be eliminated from the Big Brother house last Thursday.

Matt, a 32 year-old web designer from Elgin, IL, was simply deemed untrustworthy and too much of a threat by his Brigade alliance members, who plotted his elimination.

In a new interview with PEOPLE magazine, the diabolical genius opens up about throwing his BFF Ragan under the bus and why he regrets it. What Matt doesn’t regret? Lying about his wife’s fake illness. It also seems Matt is still loyal to his Brigade alliance, as he seems completely unaware they plotted to get him out. Excerpts from Matt’s interview below –

Do you regret throwing Ragan under the bus? Do you think it ultimately led to your eviction?

I do regret [it] and that is why I tried to do it in as subtle a manner as possible. It doesn’t make me feel less bad, but I don’t think it had any bearing in my eviction.

You seemed to have it all: a power alliance, two HOHs, a diamond POV and your purported powers that come with being a “diabolical super genius.” Yet you still couldn’t make it to the final four. How do you explain that?

I got over confident and I abandoned my strategy of always competing and I threw a competition that I could have won. That is what sent me packing.

Why do you think the Brigade ultimately turned on you? Were you surprised?

The Brigade turned on me out of necessity. They had to vote out some Brigade member and I was the strongest one out of the four with three weak competitors.

You said that the move that caused you the most guilt was throwing Ragan under the bus. What about the fact that you lied about your wife being seriously ill? What would you say to the people who actually have a serious bone disease?

To the people who truly have this disease I say that I hope you were rooting for me to win because I was going to give you a large chunk of cash from my winning for research on the disease. To me, a lie is a lie. You can lie about your age, weight, whatever. It is still a lie.

On tonight’s episode of BB12, Ragan or Hayden will be getting the axe. More than likely Ragan, as he is not a part of any alliance in the house. Things should get interesting this coming week, depending on who gets HOH. Will the Brigade members still want to keep Lane who seems more devoted to his Britney alliance? Only time will tell.
