Brandy: “I Am Numb” Following Dancing With The Stars Elimination

Fans of Dancing With The Stars are still abuzz in what some are calling the most shocking elimination ever.

Despite being in the top 2 for most of the season, singer Brandy, 31, and her dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy fell short last night as they were eliminated from the dance competition just a week before the finals.  Elimination is based on both judges scores and viewer votes.

Just how shocking was Brandy’s elimination? Well for one, you could hear a collective gasp as well as some loud boos coming from the audience. Even Bristol Palin, who advanced to the finals despite receiving the lowest scores for 7 straight weeks, looked stunned following the announcement that she was safe.

“I don’t know how to feel right now. It hasn’t processed yet for me,” said a visibly stunned and emotional Brandy right after hearing the news.

“I am numb,” Brandy told UsWeekly after the show. “I mean, I gave it everything I had. And I don’t have any regrets at all. I’m so proud of me, and I say that humbly.”

As for Maks, he seemed to take the news better, perhaps being that he is used to the routine by now. “The fact that people vote and their voices count. I love the fact that this show represents that, represents the people’s choice,” he said.

However, the next comment Maks made now has some people wondering if this will be his last season on DWTS.  “I don’t regret a second of the last five years of my being on the show and definitely not a second of me being on this season. It’s been an amazing journey.”

Thoughts – While Bristol has vastly improved through the season, no one can argue that Brandy deserved to be in the finals much more than Bristol. I ask again, why is Bristol even on the show? What exactly is her accomplishment? I honestly feel bad for Bristol as she shouldn’t even be on the show to begin with. She is not a “star,” not even a reality star. And now, she is simply being used as a pawn in a dance contest that has turned political.

People are obviously voting for her to make a statement.  Let’s face it, while she seems like a nice girl, she doesn’t have the charm, personality or charisma of Kyle Massey, who has won the hearts of viewers.  Plus with the exception of the last 2 weeks, Bristol seemed all but over the show.  At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bristol won as that would definitely make the ultimate “statement.”
