You really can’t have a conversation about the history of Dancing with the Stars without mentioning Maksim Chmerkovskiy. He had 17 seasons on the show as a pro dancer with some iconic partners, from Denise Richards to Vanessa Lachey.
After reaching Season 25 and only taking home one mirrorball over the course of his DWTS journey, he was done. Fast forward to now and Season 34 just came and went. While he didn’t compete, Maks did weigh in on the competition, which started the rumor of his comeback finally happening.
Would he go back to the dance floor and try to get another win? He just gave his answer, and it’s pretty definitive.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy has no plans to return to DWTS
Maks recently addressed the idea of him coming back to the show. And, as for now, he’s not interested in competing again.
“I think the boat has sailed. I think my comeback is in the distant past,” he told Access Hollywood.
In addition to his full-time job as a father, the former pro dancer also said that his pushback comes from the show’s social media craze.
“I just don’t think there would be space for me, especially in the format that it is today. I can’t fathom doing so much social media, and without it, how do you win?”
Meanwhile, his younger brother Val Chmerkovskiy is continuing his streak as a pro dancer on DWTS. He did share recently, though, that his days on the show might be over soon as well.
Specifically, Val revealed that he may only have the strength to do a few more seasons before retirement. That’s right people, the Chmerkovskiy era of DWTS is about to close.
Dancing with the Stars is available to stream on both Disney+ and Hulu.
