Dancing With The Stars Recap: Ralph Macchio Shines, Kirstie Alley Breaks

It was a busy Monday night on Dancing With The Stars as the stars not only had to do their regular dances, but also a group number.  Add in an extra guest judge in the form of undefeated world professional Latin dance champion Donnie Burns, and it was a night of suspense!

Following weeks of being in the middle of the pack, actor Ralph Macchio broke away last night. Ralph found his dancing mojo and tied for first place with a score of 36 for his sharp quickstep with partner Karina Smirnoff. The pair received major praises from the judges. “Once you are in the zone, you sell it like no one else can,” said judge Bruno Tonioli. With a score of 30 for their group number, Ralph and Karina finished the night with a total score of 66.

Also tying for first place with a score of 36 is NFL player Hines Ward, who continues to show he is a front runner in the competition.  With the group number factored in, Hines also scored a total of 66 for the night.

Tying for last place were Kirstie Alley and Romeo, both receiving a total score of 60 for the night.  Kirstie continues to struggle and even had a minor breakdown during one of her rehearsals with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Kirstie 60, broke down in tears when Maksim told her to “stop talking” during a practice. “I need a break!” snapped Kirstie. “You scream and jump around and I’m frustrated.”

The duo however quickly made up and even ended their lively jive dance with a spontaneous kiss.

Below is the leaderboard. In parentheses are the total scores from last night including the group number –

Ralph Macchio & Karina Smirnoff: 36 (66)

Hines Ward & Kym Johnson: 36 (66)

Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas: 34 (64)

Kendra Wilkinson & Louis van Amstel: 31 (61)

Kirstie Alley & Maks Chmerkovskiy: 30 (60)

Romeo & Chelsie Hightower: 30 (60)

And tonight, another star will be sent packing. So the question is…
