The Bachelor’s Brad Womack and Emily Maynard Reunite! Emily’s Mom Speaks Out

Are they or aren’t they? This seems to be the question concerning two-time Bachelor Brad Womack, 38, who proposed to Emily Maynard, 25, in what was touted the most dramatic Bachelor proposal ever.

The couple has admittedly had several ups and downs, including a break-up which occurred before the pair appeared on ABC’s After the Final Rose, a night that ABC had hoped would be their actual wedding ceremony. It seems the network is hoping for another Bachelor “happily ever after” story, which are the glaring minority when it comes to the marriage (heck, even just relationship longevity) success rate of past seasons. Just last week, we reported that ABC was insisting suggesting the couple stay together and work on their relationship. It appears that ABC has gotten its wish.

The couple has not been photographed together in weeks, and most media outlets who reported the couple called it quits mid April had given up entirely on a reconciliation. However, Emily’s mother Susan Maynard, in an interview with People.com, reveals that all of the speculation is difficult to stomach. She tells People, “They have not officially broken up. It’s still kind of on and off.” Susan continues, “I hear nothing but good things about Brad. They are still just trying to get to know each other…My ex husband has met him and thinks he’s a very, very nice guy.”

And when asked about her granddaughter? Emily’s mother states that “[Little] Ricki seems to like him.” While I agree that this is all well and good, there is something a bit fishy about the fact that Emily’s mother has yet to meet Brad. I am not questioning the closeness between mother and daughter, as Susan had plans with her daughter and granddaughter for Easter weekend, but shouldn’t she have met her future-son-in-law by now? Susan Maynard does believe that both her daughter and Womack have the right intentions, but admits that she knows of no plans to uproot Ricki from her life in North Carolina to move to Texas.

The couple, who have been absent in paparazzi circles as of late, was spotted this past weekend getting cozy in Brad’s native Austin, Texas. Witnesses have given accounts to Us Magazine claiming the couple was seen Friday at Kona Grill and Saturday at Fado, a bar within walking distance of Brad’s condo. It is reported that both nights the pair looked happy, comfortable and at-ease with each other, even smiling and holding hands while posing for photographs with fans. In fact, Brad’s former girlfriend (yet another one?) from nine years ago (again, nine years?), Dayla Burkett, tells Us that she believes that Emily and Brad have what it takes to make their relationship work. She tells the magazine, “We speak all the time and he is a dear friend. Brad is a good guy and he is madly in love with Emily.”

It looks as though the couple is trying to work on their issues and strengthen their relationship. I am certain that things will work out the way they should, and I will refrain from adding my two cents. But I would love to know…what do you think about Brad and Emily rekindling the flame?
