American Idol's newest judging panel, Mariah Carey, Nicki MinajKeith Urban, and Randy Jackson, debuted last week to 17.9 million viewers.

Impressive numbers, for sure, but also a 19% drop compared to season 11.

American Idol's ratings fell another 10% Wednesday night – with a total of 16 million viewers – despite Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj's feud being aired. If the footage of their showdown was leaked on purpose back in October (to create buzz) it certainly didn't pay off.

Because the edited version of a judge can be completely different from the live version of a judge, I usually try not to form any opinions about judges prior to the live shows. However, Nicki has appointed herself head b*tch in charge (she never shuts up) and it's starting to annoy me. Randy is, um, the same (nothing to write home about, dawg), and I couldn't care less about Mariah. That said, Keith is a breath of fresh air and most definitely my favorite judge this season (if not ever). He was born to woo me with his accent judge!

The good news is that American Idol is still crushing its competition.
