Chris Soules Is The New Bachelor And Arie Luyendyk Jr. Is ‘Pissed Off’

ESPY All-Star Celebrity Kickoff Party

Arie Luyendyk Jr, the runner-up on Emily Maynard’s season of the Bachelorette, has made it very clear that he wanted to be the next Bachelor. At the end of July, the 32-year-old race car driver tweeted, “No hiding it anymore!” Would love to share my journey with all of you, but it’s up to #bachelornation. Open, hopeful and more than ready.”

Well #bachelornation did not get the memo because Chris Soules is the new Bachelor and needless to say Arie is none-to-happy about it.

Arie himself even broke the news about the Bachelor casting. Not sure if he was trying to ruin the ABC franchise’s moment of glory or not. But ahead of ABC’s announcement, Arie took to twitter and wrote, “I’m not the Bachelor. Have fun on the farm people.”

The last jab of “on the farm” refers to the fact that Chris Soules is a farmer in Iowa — a happy and content farmer in Iowa. An insider who spoke to US Weekly says that this is exactly what Bachelor producers are hoping to highlight to give the show a little bit of a different dynamic.

“Unlike a lot of Bachelors, you know what Chris is offering. He wants to find a wife and family so badly, but he’s also stuck in a place that he absolutely loves and where he needs to be for his job.”

“Being a farmer’s wife might not be for everybody, but there are a lot of women who really believe in it,” the insider continued. “It will be a season different from other seasons. There will be some fun, pleasant surprises.”

Sounds like a pretty nice guy, offering a pretty nice life if you ask me. Now, who wants to be with Arie for the rest of your life and listen to him bitch and moan??

The official air date for the new season of the Bachelor has not been announced yet, but it starts shooting in September and should premiere in early 2015.
