Whoa! Nick Lachey has a job? Okay, back to the subject at hand: Real Housewives of New York’s Bethenny Frankel was interviewed by Nick Lachey on VH1’s Morning Buzz Live show this week. He describes her “triumphant return!” to RHONY, citing a ratings spike (Lachey sources are still out on what constitutes a “spike”) due to her presence on the cast this season. “I’m humbled, I’m flattered,” said Bethenny. She also claims Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer, and Luann de Lesseps ALL asked her (independently) to come back on the show, so it makes her happy to feel welcomed back with open arms now that she, ah, humbly acquiesced.
Bethenny feels like the dynamic has changed this season because some of them have been together so long and are now going through some intense life circumstances (#homelesspeopleproblemsyo!). “It’s really funny,” says Bethenny, “I see things from a different perspective now. There’s something about it that’s just completely ridiculous, tragic, and hilarious.” Lachey comments, “That’s why we watch!”

Asked about her own failed marriage and contentious divorce, Bethenny says she doesn’t want to talk about the specifics or “trash her marriage,” but that it’s really difficult being in the public eye because people only see what’s regurgitated by the media, not the full picture of who she is. Citing her personal experience on the Housewives franchise over the years as “therapeutic,” she says now she’s baring her soul on reality TV during the tougher times to show that she’s relatable and to provide comfort to others who may be going through similar struggles.
“I felt like I’ve gone through a lot of the good with them [the viewers], so I’m open to the bad,” says Bethenny. “I feel good about the time I’ve spent on reality television.” Claiming that some may see reality TV as “trashy,” Bethenny says she only feels good about the work she’s done on it and that’s she’s been truthful and honest about her life though this “strange vehicle” of reality TV over the years. Whatever her intentions on coming back to RHONY, we all know girlfriend does not need a Bravo paycheck in her Skinnygirl pocket. And that makes her motivations, no matter what they are, at least somewhat…interesting.
