Mayte Garcia Reacts To Her Ex-Husband Prince Passing Away; Kenya Moore’s BFF Brandon Explains His Link To The Late Singer

Mayte Garcia is reacting to the shocking loss of her ex-husband Prince, who passed away unexpectedly yesterday. Mayte, who once starred on Hollywood Exes and spoke openly about her marriage to the superstar, never seemed to get over their divorce. Mayte and Prince were married from 1996 – 2000.

Prince’s legendary song “The Most Beautiful Girl In The World” was written for Mayte, who was also one of his backup dancers.

Sadly the couple dealt with a tragic loss during their marriage when their newborn son Gregory passed away due to to the rare genetic disorder Pfeiffer Syndrome.

Reacting to Prince’s passing, Mayte expressed her grief on Instagram. “I can’t even think of the words of what I’m feeling. This man was my everything, we had a family. I am beyond deeply saddened and devastated … I loved him then, I love him now, and will love him eternally … He’s with our son now.”

Also speaking out about the tragic loss is Kenya Moore‘s assistant (and sometime Real Housewives Of Atlanta ‘friend’), Brandon DeShazer, who revealed his own personal connection to Prince and the impact that had on his life and childhood. Wow!

“I’ve paused for most of the day in order to figure out what I want to say and how. Only people very close to me know the part the Prince played in my childhood and as an adult. Prince gave my father his first record deal in the 80’s under Paisley Park in exchange for a song he co-wrote called Kiss (Mazarati),” shared Brandon. “This began a long career for my father and in so many ways molded my life. From there I went on to hear my father on the radio year after year with hit after hit. Prince then put my father in Purple Rain the movie and has been a force in my fathers life ever since. I not only thank Prince for what he has given to the world, but what he did for my father and in so many ways, me. I Love You…and Rest In Peace. #RIP #PRINCE”

Just an all around tragic loss for everyone. Prince was an icon and inspiration to so many – reminding us to be ourselves, be true to what we believe in, and pursue our own destiny.
