Are Dolores Catania & Frank Catania BFF’s With Benefits? RHONJ Cast Weighs In

Love comes and goes on Season 9 of Real Housewives of New Jersey as fast as exits on the New Jersey Turnpike.  Case in point,  Danielle Staub’s barefoot wedding to Marty Caffrey resulted in a marriage that lasted for a New Jersey minute. Is that a thing?

In contrast, there’s Dolores Catania. She has managed to have a longlasting relationship with her ex-husband of all people. However, they insist it’s platonic. Last season, she welcomed her ex-husband/father of two Frank Catania back home. As a result, viewers, along with cast members, have wondered if the exes are actually BFF’s with benefits ever since. Come on, the chemistry between them is just so strong! Right?

The cast opened up about this topic and threw some (light) shade during separate interviews for the Real Housewives of New Jersey After Show.

First, Dolores described Frank to Teresa Giudice and Jennifer Aydin as “a roommate that does everything for you.” This sounds like a sweet deal to about 90% of the married women in America on any given weeknight. Then when Jennifer asked, “Do you miss the sex?” Dolores side-stepped the question. Of course.

Then, Frank tried to convince  Joe Gorga and Margaret Josephs’ husband, Joe Benigno that “the husband-wife relationship is gone.” But fear not for Frank! He boasted, “Honestly I got all the benefits right now… other than the sex.”

He admitted their “incredible relationship” was hard to understand  before he tried to explain it was built on friendship before they got married, which he eloquently described as “the whole husband thing.” Oh, yeah, that whole thing.

An off-camera producer then asked the two Joe’s if they’d consider living with an ex if they were not with their partners.  Joe B said, “I’d rather kill myself.” Joe G was more pragmatic. He began, “It depends on what ex.”

Joe B said that if “she was like amazing in bed, yeah, I’d live with her. You know so I could have something else. And I’d have her still and I’m not tied to her.”

Joe G was really warming up to the idea when Frank interrupted to say, “Unfortunately, that’s not my relationship.” Frank added, “I love Dolores unconditionally.”

Joe G said, “He’s still bangin’ her.” Joe B agreed. Frank attempted to clear things up. He said that they get along “because I’m not bangin’ her. I worry about being able, god forbid, we did sleep together, you know…a relationship. I don’t know if I could ever give her that.”

Joe G said he was onto Frank and Dolores.  “Here’s what they’re doing. They’re closet doers.” Is that like being a closet eater? “That’s what they are,” he continued. “They lie about everything cause they don’t want to tell everybody and they sneak away…”

He compared them to rabbits, which are known for their procreative abilities. Then, Frank pointed out at 260 pounds he was some big rabbit. So, Joe B said, “Okay, so you’re like a big fat rabbit,” and Frank said, “There you go, man.” And that was that.
