Season 13 of Real Housewives of New York has fallen flat compared to its heyday. RHONY always delivered an entertaining season, so naturally fans are disappointed. Eboni K. Williams joined the cast as the first Black Housewife for the franchise. She has been trying to educate the ladies about racial issues, but it’s been a slog for Eboni.
Eboni had to explain why Ramona Singer shouldn’t call her staff “the help.” While Ramona is famous for running away from any dispute, or lecture, Eboni is still speaking her truth. “Frankly, I was not going to tiptoe around these women when it came to any of it,” Eboni stated. “Their comfort is just not my concern.”
Lisa Vanderpump and Kyle Richards. Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. Danielle Staub and Teresa Giudice. Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. What do all of these things have in common? They’re legendary feuds in their own right. And I would argue that the ongoing back and forth between forever frenemies Gizelle Bryant and Karen Huger on the Real Housewives of Potomac trumps them all, at least when it comes to expert shade-throwing. And somehow it still feels like it’s just getting started.
Gizelle and Karen have battled it out to be the Queen B of RHOP since the beginning. And their feud has so many iconic moments, from Gizelle’s #FreeUncleBen shirt to the Grand Dame’s attack on Jamal Bryant who lives in the phone. We had the mime scene. The birthday party seat fiasco. And countless arguments during reunions. It’s a feud that I will never tire of and never truly pick one side of — I love it for what it is, and I never want either of them to leave RHOP.
It’s always been a wonder to me what goes on behind closed doors in Jersey. The Real Housewives of New Jersey franchise has always rested on the fact that blood is thicker than water. We’ve seen how family loyalty can trump almost any outright mistreatment. But what happens when the outside friendships start to erode the family ties?
The last few seasons we’ve seen Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice try to manage their “sister-act” alongside Teresa’s growing friendship with Jennifer Aydin. In the final reunion episode of season 11 it seemed new lines had been drawn. There was Melissa, Jackie Goldschneider, and Margaret Josephs on one side. The other side sat Teresa, Jennifer, and Dolores Catania. Yet there was no clear rift between Tre and Melissa in any of this.
Not that anyone asked, but my reaction to Melissa Gorga and her husband’s “marital issues” was one giant eyeroll. Obviously children of the Real Housewives of New Jersey stars would interpret and process things in a much different way, but you might be hard-pressed to find an adult who actually believed that mess. I’m sure Melissa’s sister tucked away in a cave somewhere would agree.
Every Housewife gets in a rut. After numerous consecutive years on one show surrounded by the same people, environments get tired and cast gets stale. Some ladies are stale on arrival and manage to hang on anyway. Speaking of Melissa, last season fans saw something they never thought they would see on RHONJ. This was a hiccup in the solid, sexy marriage between Melissa and Joe Gorga. While viewers and Jennifer Aydin might not have bought it for a second, her kids apparently did, and that isn’t good at all.
Does anyone out there miss Danielle Staub? I didn’t think so. Now does Danielle miss us? Absolutely. Desperate for any screen time, she recently appeared in a short series of interviews on The Housewife and The Hustler. For those of you who don’t know, THATH is a documentary about Erika Bamboozle Jayne and husband Tom Girardi’s alleged well, bamboozling.
So what does Danielle have to do with Erika? Nothing really. Danielle’s only real contribution to the conversation was talking about that one time she was on Watch What Happens Live with Erika. Oh and they both worked at Shakers. Just not at the same time. Riveting, I know. But Danielle just can’t pass up any opportunity to talk about anything really. So I’m sure she jumped at the chance to trash her old castmates from Real Housewives of New Jersey. For someone who hasn’t been on the show in years (and years), she sure has a lot to say.
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey’s personal life is flourishing. On October 10, 2020, Cynthia married her man, Mike Hill. Their wedding had over 250 guests, so Bravo peaced out of filming the nuptials for RHOA due to Covid safety issues.
Cynthia isn’t letting any fine women come to her house when her husband is at home, and twerking is a no-no. Mike had a history of cheating on his previous wives, and Cynthia is removing any opportunity.
Who doesn’t love a good Bravo-sphere crossover? If there’s one thing I crave more than just my regular reality TV drama, it’s mixing and matching the mayhem. Can we please get some Housewives on Below Deck!? I don’t think it’s too much to ask, really.
When the casts of these already wild shows start mingling, there’s no telling what might happen. Who can forget Bethenny Frankel being invited to a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills dinner by Kyle Richards. You know, the one where Beth essentially called Erika Jayne’s schtick for the garbage that it was. We need more of that.
How does the saying go? The devil works hard, but Danielle Staub works harder. Especially when it comes to inserting herself into any and every Bravo narrative since departing from the Real Housewives of New Jersey a second time. Her most recent stunt was an appearance in a Hulu documentary about Erika Jayne and Tom Girardi’s shady divorce and embezzlement allegations. And it led everyone, including Andy Cohen, to wonder what made Danielle the expert on this topic in the first place. To her, the fact that they both danced in the same go-go bar back in the day and appeared on Real Housewives is enough credibility. And it’s saying something that not even thirsty old Brandi Glanville turned down an appearance in the doc.
The documentary itself was very revealing about the ins and outs of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star’s lavish lifestyle that is allegedly built off of the trauma of others. Tom is being accused of stealing millions from victims of horrific incidents to fund EJ’s glam squads and private jets. And even though she’s being accused of spending money her soon-to-be ex-husband made illegally, Erika is proving she’s a stone-cold villain by prioritizing, well, herself. Even though she’s still flying in PJs and wearing designer outfits everywhere she goes. And for once, the RHOBH mean girls squad is giving EJ a pass. Where’s the outrage? Don’t worry, Danielle is making up for that by talking even more about Erika’s allegations.
