There’s more heartbreak in Plathville. After five years of marriage, Welcome to Plathville stars Ethan Plath and Olivia Plath have called it quits. This isn’t the first time they’ve publicly broken up — the two separated for a bit back in 2021 but quickly reconciled. However, this time, it seems permanent. People reported all the details.
Another breakup hits Plathville
On Welcome to Plathville, we’ve had a front-row seat to Olivia and Ethan’s unique relationship. She was a driving force in getting Ethan and his siblings out of their fundamentalist bubble and into the real world. Despite their past obstacles, they seemed stronger than ever at the beginning of Season 5. As the episodes progressed, we started seeing new and old problems in their relationship come to the surface. It was too much to bear this time.
The TLC stars took to Instagram to share the news of their divorce. You know it’s serious when both reality stars post separate breakup announcements on the same day. Ethan even took Olivia’s name out of his Instagram bio.
“Olivia and I have parted ways,” Ethan announced. “It just didn’t work between us, though Lord knows we both gave it all we had. It seemed we were constantly pulling each other in opposite directions in life with different goals. I wish Olivia the best in the future ahead. I care for her deeply and always will.”
Meanwhile, over on Olivia’s Instagram, she went into a little bit more detail. She reminisced about the positive times they had together as a couple before digging into the nitty gritty.
“Ethan and I have decided to go our separate ways,” Olivia wrote. “I have ambivalent memories of us being 18 years old, innocently dreaming of forever – but the partner you choose is a reflection of the world you want to live in, and at 18 I didn’t know who I was or what kind of life I wanted to create for myself.”
Olivia continued, “7 years later, I’ve already begun my journey of questioning, deconstructing, and rebuilding and I know that is a process that I will continue to prioritize throughout my life.”
She continued by thanking Ethan and wishing him the best, but it will be interesting to see what happens next. Ethan had never even had soda before he met Olivia, and now, he’s on his own. Is it time to go back to Plathville?
