Olivia Flowers and her family just celebrated Thanksgiving without the presence of her late brother, Conner Flowers. The Southern Charm star lost her beloved older brother on January 30, 2023 to a fentanyl overdose. The news outlets that she has spoken to since then have given Olivia all the space she needed to grieve and process the shocking loss.
Recently, Olivia appeared on The Viall Files to speak about how the family will cope spending the holidays without Connor.
It’s “medicine” for Olivia to talk about her brother Conner
“It’s very gradual and very inconsistent,” Olivia told Nick Viall of her grieving journey. “I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have my close friends and family around me. Thanksgiving was very different this year, but we made the most of it.”
“Once the dust settles,” Olivia said. It will “start to hit hard.”
The Bravolebrity has received a tremendous amount of support from Southern Charm viewers who have also lost a loved one.
“It’s just trying to figure out a new reality now,” Olivia revealed. “There’s been an outpouring of support and people sharing their [similar] stories of loss and there’s a sad comfort in relating to others. But, it’s been uplifting and we’re just trying to shape the new reality.”
The Southern Charm star shared one coping mechanism that has helped her for the past 10 months.
“It is medicine to talk about the person and keep them alive in memory,” Olivia said. “And the only way to do that is to talk about them. … I miss being the youngest and getting away with things, [but I really miss] his heart. He had the best heart, he was so kind and everyone knew him. I’ve always been known as Conner’s little sister.”
Olivia has a tight-knit family that have rallied together in support. She praised her parents, most of all, for being a safe place to lean on.
“They’re staying so strong for me, but I constantly want to remind them [that] they don’t have to be strong for me and I can be there for them. And I’m the baby of the family, so that’s an adjustment for them. It’s just talking about him and keeping him alive in the family.”
