Below Deck’s Ben Willoughby Reveals Real Reason Behind Camille Lamb Split

It’s been nearly a year since Below Deck Season 10 aired its finale, and some of the less notable faces in the cast have faded into obscurity. Camille Lamb, being one of the more memorable for her work-shy attitude and endless deflection, wasn’t one of those people. And by extension, Camille’s romance with Ben Willoughby is another topic of interest from Season 10. With the upcoming premiere of Season 11, the lead deckhand was asked to share what happened with the romance after charter season ended. Why did Ben and Camille split?

Ben said he “got” Camille “at her best” before split

The Australian native told E! News, “Hindsight’s a beautiful thing, but it’s also a pain in the ass.”

“Looking back on it, going on almost two years now, I was way more invested than she was,” he revealed. “You didn’t get to see a lot of the behind the scenes. It was very cute, it was very endearing our relationship, but then once the camera stopped, it was all her.”

After flying from his native Australia to visit her in Florida, it was very clear to Ben where things stood.

“I’d been in Australia for about two weeks and then I decided to fly back to see her because she was missing me,” Ben explained. “She said she really wanted to be with me in Florida, so I made the decision to head over to Florida. Got there and decided she wasn’t faithful.”

“We’re not in touch anymore, but I think I got her at her best,” Ben reminisced.

The lead deckhand gets involved with multiple boatmances on the upcoming season. He joked, “It wouldn’t be me if there wasn’t a boatmance or two. When I walked on board this season I liked my chances a little bit. I was like, ‘I might be the head deck here so I’ve got a little bit of interest from the ladies early on.’ Also, I’ve never had a working romance with someone in the same department, so that’s definitely a new learning curve for me and it’s definitely new water so I have to navigate.”

Below Deck Season 11 premieres Monday, February 5 at 9/8c on Bravo.
