Rumor: Susan Lucci Could Become The Golden Bachelorette

Fans think it’s only a matter of time before ABC announces The Golden Bachelorette, and as rumor would have it, Susan Lucci is up for the titular role. It didn’t take long for ABC to realize they had a hit on their hands with The Golden Bachelor. Even before the show aired, the online buzz was palpable.

Now, as fans wait for (presumably) an inevitable Golden Bachelorette announcement, the real question on everyone’s mind is who would be the new lead. Many have pointed to signs that The Golden Bachelor’s runner-up, Leslie Fhima, would be the spin-off’s star.

Now, however, another hat has been thrown into the ring. Reportedly the network wants La Lucci, a known legend from daytime television. Susan has been in the acting game for a long time, with her most notable role being Erica Kane on ABC’s own soap opera, All My Children. Also, this is the ICON Erika Jayne is named after … So, what base is there to this rumor?

Susan Lucci is ABC’s “perfect candidate” for Golden Bachelorette

RadarOnline reported that a tipster told The National Enquirer, “ABC sees Lucci as the perfect candidate because of her age appropriateness and the widely known narrative about losing her longtime spouse.”

The insider continued, “Her personal journey is a compelling storyline that will resonate with audiences, making the widow’s quest for love heart-warming to watch.” They added, “Who doesn’t want to see Susan find love again?”

For those unaware, Susan lost her husband, Helmet Huber, back in March 2022. She and the Australian-born chef were married for 53 years, having raised two children together.

Bringing in an already-established TV star would be quite the shakeup to The Bachelor franchise’s formula. Although, die-hard fans of the series know that ABC has approached celebrities for the series before.

But arguably, one of the show’s defining characteristics – especially for the Golden Bachelor – is that the show is made up of your average, everyday people. There’s the driving idea that people can find love anywhere.

Neither Susan nor ABC responded to RadarOnline’s request for comment.
