If you’re of a certain age, you probably remember when Freeform was called ABC Family. Whatever you want to call it these days, the network is shifting away from its cheesy scripted shows and diving into the reality TV space. The latest reality show they launched this month is extra juicy. It’s called Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise, and it stars none other than Elizabeth Chambers.
An island full of drama
Elizabeth got married in 2010 to disgraced actor Armie Hammer, and had two kids. They broke up in 2020, and then a few months later, Armie became embroiled in those wild accusations of cannabilism and abuse. Meanwhile, Elizabeth has been living in Grand Cayman with their kids, trying to heal from the high-profile divorce.
Grand Cayman: Secrets In Paradise follows Elizabeth and a handful of ex-pats and Grand Cayman locals who are navigating careers, relationships, and friendships. These people are rich, and a lot of them have ties to celebrities or are desperately trying to become them, like Selita Ebanks who has dated both Kanye West and Nick Cannon. The fact that these people live in a literal paradise makes it even more exciting.
In addition to Selita and Elizabeth, the cast consists of Courtney McTaggart, Chelsea Flynn, Craig Jervis, Julian Foster, Dillon Claassens, Aaron Bernardo, Cass Lacelle, Victoria Jurkowski, Teri Bilewitch, Trevor Coleman, and Connor Bunney.
In the trailer, it’s clear that these people have some big questions about Armie’s scandal. He’s like a shadow looming over this whole show. Still, the rest of the cast have a lot of their own issues to work out. There are cheating scandals aplenty, and they allude to the “Cayman Curse.” If you move to the island with your significant other, you’re doomed.
Grand Cayman: Secrets In Paradise airs on Freeform, Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Hulu.
