Kristen Doute Advised The Valley Cast to Be ‘Authentic’

Kristen Doute has always found being on reality television quite natural. So, when Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright called her up to film Bravo’s newest series, The Valley, it wasn’t an opportunity she could easily pass up.

In addition to her former Vanderpump Rules alums, Kristen is joined on The Valley by some of her new friends, including Zack Wickham, Nia Booko, and Michelle Lally. And despite it being their first season, they are bringing it. During her conversation with OK! Magazine, Kristen explained how she gave some of her friends a bit of advice before filming began. “The only advice that I gave them was just to be authentic. Be authentically yourself because that’s also something that I’ve learned since we’ve done Vanderpump Rules,” she said. “But not everyone took the advice.”

“[If you] change yourself for the people around you, then those people might not be for you. Find your tribe, love them hard,” she added. “You will gravitate toward the people that are supposed to be in your life and that are like-minded. I wanted to remind my friends that were going on a reality show for the first time because it can be very nerve-wracking at times.”

In case you haven’t been keeping up with Kristen on this show, we’ve got you covered!

She’s been on an island by herself since Episode 3, when the group discovered she spread a rumor about Michelle, saying she was a “racist and a Republican.” Since then, she’s had to rely heavily on her boyfriend, Luke Broderick, to get her through.

And speaking of which, Luke isn’t in the greatest place with the cast either. Jax doesn’t really vibe with him, and some of the other guys have basically called him the odd man out. But despite it all, they’ve got each other.

The couple’s biggest storyline, though, revolves around their desire to have a baby. “The only thing I second-guess is my own body,” Kristen told Luke during an earlier episode. “I can’t just get knocked up like any day of the week, and I feel like it might be really difficult.”

“I don’t want to keep talking about that or thinking about it or saying it out loud because I feel like, it’s like I’m putting that out into the universe,” she said. “I’m just trying to not put all this stress and pressure on myself.”

The Valley continues on Tuesdays at 9/8c.
