New Drag Race Spinoff Confirmed With Six Returning Queens

Feeling frosty? The creative minds at World of Wonder just cooked up a brand new RuPaul’s Drag Race spinoff, and it’s like a cross between Drag Race and Bravo’s Winter House. The new series is called Slaycation! We just got a first look at all of the queens getting ready to glam up our TV screens, and honestly, we’re not sure why they didn’t think of this sooner.

Two things have us stoked about Slaycation. First of all, it’s bringing queens from all across the Drag Race universe. Second of all, it’s not a competition. We get to see some of our favorite performers just have fun without the pressure of RuPaul breathing down their necks.

The trailer shows queens returning from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Canada’s Drag Race, and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. The full cast consists of Kandy Muse, Lawrence Chaney, Kerri Colby, Luxx Noir London, BOA, and Jada Shada Hudson. According to Entertainment Weekly, the synopsis of the show promised that the six-episode series would give “frivolity, drama, and fish-out-of-water escapades.” Who doesn’t love that?

The queens filmed their winter retreat in Canada. The trailer shows them braving the cold and partying, all while donning looks that would put Real Housewives of Lake City to shame. And, in addition to the frivolity and the drama, they’re going to put on a drag show for the local community.

The new Drag Race spinoff comes amid a slew of lighthearted updates for the franchise. RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9 just premiered its first-ever season fully dedicated to charity. WOW Presents Plus also recently debuted a hilarious new show called RuPaul’s Drag Race Live Untucked, showing a peek behind the curtain of the Drag Race experience on the Las Vegas strip.

Although World of Wonder announced this wintery show in the heat of the summer, they didn’t confirm a premiere date. It’s expected to air later this year on Crave in Canada and on WOW Presents Plus everywhere else. In the meantime, WOW Presents Plus has all things Drag Race to hold us over.
