It’s been over 10 years since RuPaul told Courtney Act not to “rest on pretty,” but apparently, Ru was resting on petty. The Season 6 RuPaul’s Drag Race alum just claimed that Ru blocked her on social media. When confronted, she said the Emmy Award-winning host gave a shockingly blunt reason for doing so.
RuPaul told Todrick Hall to pass on a message to Courtney Act
Courtney recently appeared on her Season 6 sister’s podcast, The Kelly Mantle Show, and during their chat, Courtney admitted that Ru blocked her shortly after their season aired.
According to Courtney, it all started when she publicly called out the show for using a transphobic term that rhymes with female. Courtney, along with plenty of others from the Drag Race community, tried to advocate for change.
Courtney explained, “That sparked a conversation about the T-slur, and then Ru kind of at that point doubled down and said, ‘If you’re worried about me calling you a word, then you’ve got bigger problems.’”
After that, Courtney wrote a heartfelt Facebook post trying to defend the trans community. Ultimately, she said that post is what earned her a block from RuPaul herself.
“I thought this was really thoughtful. Ru’s going to really appreciate me engaging in intelligent conversation rather than just internet slander,” Courtney added. “Blocked.”
Eventually, RuPaul did unblock her, but she said the gesture came with a very pointed message.
“Todrick Hall and I were filming,” Courtney recalled. “We were filming some videos together. I told him about the blocking, and he was like, ‘This must be a mistake. Let me message Ru.'”
Messaging Ru might have been the real mistake because, allegedly, Ru called Todrick and spoke to him on the phone for nearly an hour. Courtney had to just sit there with her thoughts, and when Todrick returned, he hit her with a truth bomb.
Courtney said, “Todrick came back in, and he was like, ‘Well, it wasn’t an accident that she blocked you, and she knows that we’re friends, and so she asked that I don’t go into the details, but she did say that I could tell you: I just don’t like you.’”
“And then I got unblocked,” Courtney added.
Although Courtney did get unblocked, hearing Ru say that she just flat out doesn’t like her stung. However, she said she doesn’t hold any hard feelings. She still has respect for her. Just don’t expect to see her on a season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars anytime soon.
RuPaul’s Drag Race is streaming on Paramount+.
