Everyone knew that the time had come for the Real Housewives of Atlanta to be given a facelift. The old formula hadn’t been working for a while, and fans missed the days of NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak. Season 16 was meant to be a fresh new start. And while it hasn’t been the smoothest transition, thanks to Brit Eady and Kenya Moore’s fallout, the transition has birthed a few new stars.
A star is born with Shamea Morton
Who knew Shamea Morton was more than Porsha Williams’ sidekick? The mother of two has it all and a bag of potato chips. She is in a loving marriage and being treated like the queen she clearly is. Frankly, Bravo and fans have been sleeping on Shamea, leading me to wonder why it took so long for her to be given a peach to begin with. Shamea is funny. And not just ha-ha funny like she has a talent for quick comebacks. She went after Angela Oakley’s nose, and even though she apologized, I caught the underlying shade. She mentioned Beat It as a nod to Michael Jackson’s nose during her confessional, and I just about lost it.
Her premiere episode showed her very comfortable in her lavish lifestyle. And dare I say, she might be the richest on the cast now. She is unapologetically herself and won fans over when she retold the story about she met her husband, noting, “sh*t in his bathroom ladies, mark your territory.” Without a doubt, Shamea was kept in the wings as a wild card that Bravo could pull out to save the sinking ship of RHOA.
Brit Eady is bringing video vixen vibes to the RHOA cast
Brit seemed pretty cool during her premiere episode. But since the latest episode, a lot of opinions have changed. Prior to the latest fight, fans were getting excited to learn more about Brit. She was a proud video vixen in the early 2000s. She even appeared in Soulja Boy’s Kiss Me Thru The Phone. The 37-year-old now runs her own insurance business and is a proud wife. Brit came onto the Real Housewives of Atlanta admitting she doesn’t have a lot of girlfriends (and we now understand why).
Like her or not, Brit brought the drama to the ATL. After dinner got out of hand, Brit popped off at Kenya. The beauty queen offended the new peach by noting, “Peasants cannot come for a queen.” Tensions rose as Brit yelled, “Let that b*tch know. I don’t play them games! I got whip, motherf*cking pistols, everything.” She then added, “I mean, I still got my pistol so.”
Kelli Ferrell has us craving designer bags
There is something about Kelli Ferrell. First, she caught my eye when she threw her oldest daughter a lavish birthday party. For 17 years she gifted 17 presents, most being very expensive high-end designer bags. Um, Kelli, can you adopt me? Kelli is a firecracker with quite a story. In the most recent episode, she shared how hard her divorce had been and the fact that her ex-husband threatened to kill her while in court. For the most part, Kelli has stayed out of trouble with the rest of the women. Well, with the exception of upsetting Porsha by claiming she stole a married man. But she’ll learn quickly enough.
She even hosted quite a charity event. What I like the most about Kelli right now is her passion for her business. She has been all about Nana’s Chicken and Waffles, and I find myself really rooting for her.
Angela Oakley is growing on me
I have to admit that I almost forgot about Angela on this list. But I think she will be a slow burn. What I do love about Angela is that she is seemingly willing to keep the peace in the group. She accepted Shamea’s apology no questions asked, and that takes a strong person to do that. She is also a self-made millionaire without the help of her famous husband. I think Angela is going to be a smart addition to the Real Housewives of Atlanta. She is chill and down-to-earth, which will always be good, especially when the newbies start getting out of hand.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta is available to stream on Peacock.
