For some two’s great but three’s better and The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Ashley Darby knows a little bit about that. The star of Bravo’s Love Hotel opened up about how she and her ex-husband Michael Darby sometimes allowed “other partners” into the relationship.
The admission came during an episode of Love Hotel where the housewife talked about her past with potential suitor Jason. She admitted that they had been open to other people in the past but only under strict guidelines. Looks like the search for new love also goes hand in hand with honesty about relationships past. But despite what happened in the past, these days Ashley is looking for just one man.
Ashley Darby prefers monogamy these days
Ashley admitted that she and Michael have found unique ways to spice up their relationship in the past, but these days, she’s looking for monogamy. She’s more than happy to leave the love triangle to Luann de Lesseps and focus on finding one Mr. Right.
After all, adding people often got messy in the past. And while it wasn’t the only reason for the couple’s divorce, it may have been a contributing factor. Michael and Ashley split in 2022 amidst rumors of infidelity. They finalized the divorce this year.
“In my marriage, the rules were you can’t know the person and you have to be agree and be together,” Ashley explained. She opened up about this during a conversation where Jason admitted to once being in a throuple (starting at the 1:48 mark).
“Your girl had a girlfriend?” Ashley asked him.
“That’s how I met them. They came to me,” Jason explained. He was in a relationship with the two women for eight months.
While Ashley initially took the news in stride, the next day she admitted to Jason that it had her rethinking a possible love connection with him. She wasn’t judging his past, but she had no desire to repeat any of the issues that contributed to the downfall of her marriage.
Although Jason tried to assure her that he was just being honest and that he wasn’t looking for that type of relationship anymore, she was still second-guessing a future between them.
“I think it takes a certain personality type to be in a relationship that way,” she explained. For his part, Jason isn’t giving up. We’ll have to see if Ashley is still willing to give him a chance.
