Despite her cancer journey and everything under that umbrella, Teddi is still a woman and she’s still on the dating scene. In November 2024, Teddi filed for divorce from her husband, Edwin. In her filings, she asked for primary physical and legal custody of their three young children. However, Teddi later amended her request, asking this judge to grant Edwin joint physical and legal custody.
Several beats later, Teddi received a life-changing diagnosis, revealing she now had stage 4 metastatic melanoma. That February, Teddi underwent brain surgery. At this point, she and Edwin placed their divorce proceedings on ice. Presenting as a solid estranged spouse and role model for their children, Edwin rallied by her side while she underwent multiple surgeries, radiation treatments, and immunotherapy.
Then, on the May 14 episode of Two Ts in a Pod, Teddi revealed that things were headed in a good direction healthwise. Her doctors now feel great about her progress. This wonderful health update has Teddi feeling eager to get back into the process of living “full force” as soon as she feels physically and emotionally able.
Thankfully, Teddi and Edwin remain on the same page. With hope on their side, Teddi and Edwin decided to take their divorce proceedings off the ice in May. “They have decided that her illness is not enough to keep them together. Their marriage is over, and they want to finalize it amicably and with much respect,” an unknown source shared.

With their divorce back on track, Teddi is starting to move forward with her real-life plotlines. And if our eyes are not deceiving us, Teddi might have just found her next cozy romance chapter of living.
This week, paparazzi snapped multiple images of Teddi and a mystery man jogging around Encino, California. These images then went borderline viral. While running is typically an innocent activity, the large grins that both Teddi and this man were sporting fell outside of conventionally friendly norms. Sure enough, as these lenses sneakily captured, her mystery man wrapped his arms around her, kissing Teddi on the cheek.
Earlier this year, Teddi teased that she had “already been on more dates with new people.” One of these dates turned into a second date with a man whom Teddi found to be “cute and nice.” Fans remain unsure whether this recently spotted mystery person is the same man she last spoke of.
What is the latest news on Teddi Mellencamp’s cancer journey?
With lady love at her side, including the love of Edwin for the mother of his children, Teddi is currently plugging away on her cancer journey, tackling everything her doctors throw her way. So, what is she presently undergoing? We will tell you now.
As of late April and mid-May 2025, her tumors have shown positive signs of shrinking, some almost even disappearing out of sight, thanks to her immunotherapy treatments, Teddi shared on her podcast. Although Teddi cannot yet declare herself “cancer-free,” her plan is working, and that is a huge win. “So every four weeks for the next two years, I have to come in and get that done. And then every three months, I get another scan, and we check to make sure that everything is where it is,” Teddi continued via her platform.
Moving forward, Teddi will need to remain on this immunotherapy plan above for the entire duration of her two-year treatment plan to ensure that her tumors continue to shrink, hopefully disappearing altogether. While this might seem like a daunting task, now that Teddi has received this “good news” from her doctors, it has her feeling like there is a “smooth path forward.”
