When Erika Jayne joined the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in Season 6, she was a major game player. She brought an interesting storyline revolving around her relationship and aspiring pop star career. Along the way, Erika morphed into the villain of the 90210, but fans still loved her. She offered witty remarks and over-the-top fashions. However, not everything has been a walk in the park for the Bravoleb who once considered handing back her diamond.
Erika Jayne wanted to quit RHOBH
It turns out that the series started to lose its appeal for Erika. Flash back to 2020 when she had just decided to leave her husband, Tom Girardi. He was in the middle of allegations that he embezzled millions of dollars from clients and orphans. The Pretty Mess singer found herself in the middle as many of her co-stars questioned if she knew what her husband was doing behind closed doors. Those seasons were perhaps the worst for Erika, who mixed prescription drugs with cocktails and lashed out at the cameras. Fans found it hard to empathize with her, too. While on her Diamonds In The Rough podcast, she shared that she struggled during those years. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star noted, “I wanted to quit, I sincerely thought about quitting during the worst of my legal troubles.”
However, Erika decided to stick around. Probably because she needed the Bravo paycheck to survive. She added, “And what made me not quit was two things: I didn’t want to be a quitter, and I wasn’t going to be ran out. No matter how tough it was or how hard they made it on me, I didn’t want them to be in control of my life story.”
Erika Jayne wants a human connection
One thing that RHOBH fans love about Erika is her dating life. Even though she doesn’t usually name names, random hookups like Jesse Solomon get into the headlines. During her podcast, Erika noted, “I don’t mind dating and having fun with people. I really don’t. I’m not looking to get married. I’m not looking to move in with someone or anything like that.” Erika has done the not-so-wedded bliss thing. She explained, “I’ve been married basically all of my adult life. I want to spend time with people that I would actually spend time with, and not for television.”
For Erika, a significant reason she might consider leaving the beloved franchise is due to her connections. The cast has started to be given a shake-up, where new faces are brought in who weren’t ever friends with the group. For Erika, “It needs to be someone I find genuinely interesting because I can’t fake it.” Erika has been known to be quite icy when it comes to some of the women on the show. It could be time for her to retire as Bravo leans towards refreshing the entire cast.
Is Erika Jayne on the new RHOBH season?
It seems for now, Erika is slated to make a return for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 15. The U.S Sun revealed in May that a few of them had been asked back have already been given their Season 15 contracts. The insider shared that “Kyle was the big question mark for the longest time, but she is coming back. Producers offered her a big incentive to come back, so she is. She’s had long talks with production about what she is willing and not willing to show. She knows, basically, she has to step it up next season.” The production source also noted that Dorit Kemsley, Bozoma Saint John, Erika, and Sutton Stracke are also returning with diamonds. The source made sure to note that the reports of Erika’s firing were “untrue.”
I’ve always enjoyed watching Erika on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. But now more than ever, I’m starting to think that she might want to take a step back. It was just revealed that Tom will be spending time behind bars. And I imagine Erika doesn’t want to keep reliving that part of her life for the cameras. At least for now, she will be able to share her story for one more season as she decides on her next move.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
